These are short highlight reels put together by Newblearbomb and myself. They're meant to give a brief(10min or so) recap of a proleague match, for those people who don't have time to watch the entire series of VODs. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
From now on we'll be posting the Broodwar Highlights into this thread. I'll add new highlight reels to the OP as we make them. Expect 1-2 per week.

You're right, the video quality is unfortunately a little poor in this reel. I'm still fiddling around with my converter trying to get the right settings. We'll have it all figured out next time around though.

but as said above, please please stop saying mewties, it does bad for my nerves. And a minor note, would be great if you can keep the audio at around the same volume when you're combining different commentating sessions. Although dont sweat it if its too much trouble.

Logical fallacy, there were no "highlights" in the hite v. Stars match. Such a terrible series of games.

Ignore that, What he means is he wants to see more exciting stuff(even when there isn't any) with music pumping in the background.
The mans already giving you the best every game has to offer with commentary. Not every game has micro battles or pimpest play moments... thanks alot and keep it up.

Wow this is really really cool. I'm going to continue to watch, but to me it seems like you could use more enthusiasm or switch up the pace of your delivery a little bit, but again that's just my two cents.

I like this and think it's fine. Reminds me of sports center on ESPN, very professional and well done. Some pet peeves I have are some of the pronunciations/abbreviations (ie LEEta and mutalisks (not mutees). Really dig the background info on how the players did the following weeks too, very nice job.

Thanks for the feedback. We've been trying to strike the balance between enthusiasm and more of a straight cast, and it probably varies quite a bit depending on when we're doing the actual recording, ie less enthusiasm early in the morning...

We've definitely had some pronunciation slip-ups so far, and will most likely continue to have them in the future, particularly with player names(how does one pronounce ggaemo anyways.....). Unfortunately is difficult for us to find out the correct pronunciation before we make the VODs. Watching other peoples commentaries would be one option, but this unfortunately makes a time-consuming process more time consuming. As long as people point out any errors though, we'll hopefully steadily eliminate any errors, particularly the important ones: muties, hite, eSTRO, etc.

If people are interested in pitching in, we could definitely put a team together. It would take a bit of organization, but this is something that can easily be done remotely, with people working in teams or alone. By using Dropbox or an ftp we could easily transfer files without a problem. We've just been using Windows Movie Maker, which is very bare bones and comes with windows. Neither of us have any previous experience in movie editing or cutting things together like this. The one thing we do have is a very high quality mic, but i doubt that a cheapo microphone would be much worse for this kind of thing.
Anyways, if anyone is interested in doing a match or a couple games a week, let us know and we can co-ordinate and share resources as best we can. It would be awesome if we could get a large enough team to get all the games covered. For starters, if anyone's interested, reply to this thread or send me a PM, and we'd be happy to pass on anything we've learned so far, and coordinate with you so we don't end up covering the same games.

This is really amazing. You seem to have the appropriate knowledge of openings and such which is very pleasant - dont really know the PvT-ones but im assuming that they are correct. And if that is so, im really widening my broodwar knowledge! Keep it going guys!

The eSTRO vs MBC VOD is quite a bit longer than normal simply because the games are all quite long. It's cut into two parts for the moment, but eventually I'll replace it with a full VOD

Estro MBC was awesome! I particulary liked the "to sum up" part with the little illustration over bases and such.

I watched the first video, and in general its really good, there are just a few points where I think you could improve.
1. Saying muuties is annoying and also sounds like a 10year old
2. Im not sure what your take is on scripting your videos, or if you shoot them live. In your first video atleast, there is some long aaaaahh, uuummmmhhh etc, and that could be avoided by first picking out the videos, then writing a scrip, and reading that instead of improvising. This might be alot more work so its entirely up to you, and I could ofcource be wrong here.

The first video in particular we didn't spend a ton of time on. It was more just to get the idea out there and see what people thought.
I think, or at least hope, that we've improved since that first video and will hopefully continue to improve as we keep doing it. We don't necessarily script the videos, but we do try to keep the ahhs and umms to a minimum. I recommend watching some of the later VODs though, as I think those are higher quality.

Sorry for the delay on this VOD, the game played last Sunday. Me and Newblearbomb are actually on other sides of the country right now, so we've had a bit of trouble co-ordinating the BWHighlights. I'm hoping to do one solo today though and post it later on.

very good idea, I've only one thing to pick on. When you talk, try and keep the microphone as center to your mouth as possible. in the end of the oct 25th sk vs oz reel, I thought my sound was stuffing up because your voice was going from one of my headphones to the other

We definitely try to do this, unfortunately some of those earlier VODs aren't quite as polished in that respect. Also, In the last few that I've done i've been using a 5$ mic so the sound quality isn't quite as good as it could be.

Your mic is fine for me. In "KT Rolster vs hite SPARKYZ Nov 28th" there was too big sound difference between intro and the main part. By the way, that intro is really nice. Its hard to explain it, but the timing of all the sounds and sharp ending make it really good.
Sometimes you could recommend a game or just throw a note like "this game was action packed" or "outstanding play in Leta vs Tempest" that shows character of a one match.
Anyways, keep em coming.

Sorry about the lack of highlight reels recently. Radfield and I are on opposite sides of the country right now, and with the holidays it's difficult to find spare time. Hopefully we'll be able to get something done before the new year, but we may have to wait until then.

Uploaded a new reel today, the MSL semi-final between Flash and Kwanro. There are a few mistakes in it but on the whole its pretty good, hopefully you all enjoy it.
Also, I'm hoping to do Jaedong vs Kal as well as the finals for both the MSL and OSL in the upcoming days.

late response but, highlight movies were stuff that people like retuh/spitfire/ramdaraddaa/leafsnowx made. this is pretty much a commentary with a "highlight" wrapper on it. not that its bad, i watch it anyway, but i'd want to see those kinds of movies again, even with the lack of awestruck/inspiring plays lately.

SKT vs Khan is up from week 1 of Winners League. Unfortunately the match was played quite some time ago; we finished this last week but it took us a while to get it uploaded. Hopefully we'll get them out in a more timely fashion in the future.
