This blog is an idea. One day, I realized that there threads that are significant enough to contribute to but given the pace of the thread, I'm afraid what I'll write will simply be buried amidst the hundred others. On other occasions, there are times when I think a particular topic has a finite resolution, yet by the very nature of online discussion among internet experts, myself included, I shall use this space to provide my discussion ending final argument on a particular topic. kk On many cases however, this will be about random things I encounter on TL.
In short, this blog is meant to log my day on TL. Not my day in general, but the time I spend online on TL. Things that I do. Things that I notice. Things that just generally happen.
So how does this work Well, I imagine this to be a series. I don't know how long this is going to run, but I'll post every month, starting today, May, as month #1.
How did I know TL I've already know TL way back in NATE MSL, but by then I could barely understand a single word on this website LOL, and there are millions of local media where I can get BW stuff. I was informed about it, by the way, by my professor who ladder with me on ICCup. His English is outstanding, and he thought it will be a good thing for me given that it will not only encourage my addiction to starcraft LOL, I will also have a chance to read English text, lots of it. I was finally urged to join when SC2 was out. It was not big here then, and the only place to get good SC2 information is TL. So here I am. I've grown some distaste over SC2 eventually, but I'm still here. BW4LYF! Fuck Yeah!
About me Like many here, I am a university student. More importantly, I am a BW addict. I came to TL at the height of the new BW golden age. I don't know much about progamers kk especially Jaedong kkk but I caught myself being active at the height of the current MSL season. I think thats enough information about me and me relating to TL.
Like I said, it's an idea. Let's take it as it goes
#1 MAY
1.1 Some catching up. This month (and my time since joining) has been pretty insane. Let me just summarize it here LOL. OK, I have been fascinated by this LR thing. I think I first ventured LR in an MSL round with Zero. And then I felt comfortable doing 2 more LRs for Ro16. I dont remember which one in particular now, but I was banned for me otherwise awesome Recommend Polls, something short of "WOW JAEDONG PLAYED A SUPER AMAZING GAME AND WON, RECOMMEND?" and then having all the options some form of superlative yes. I got banned for it. LOL I pleaded, saying that they were really awesome games and that I didnt know polls were supposed to be spoiler free, but they fell on deaf ears. Ban sustained. HAHA. Now, and this is the fun part, recently I made 2 LR for the upcoming Day 2 and 3 of Ro8. With that ban in mind, I tried to keep it clean, in fact I didnt post the polls yet to avoid early and void votes. Now, I think it started with one innocent picture of a player that I predict will win this MSL. Many have taken to arms against it. I didnt know how serious it was until there was one who said that now his life is ruined because Jaedong's picture is on a game where Jaedong is not playing. I LOLed of course, but found it proper not to fuel the fire. I'm sure I can fight them argument for argument regarding BW, one does not cut classes for BW and be an idiot about it, right? kk It's only unfortunate it rarely goes to that, a real argument, as it mostly becomes just personal attacks. But now that I mentioned it, I think what riled them more was something I wrote about Flash in a game vs Leta. That was another fun thread. I was hoping for someone to bash my head and point out how noob my understanding of the game is. I take it as a personal joy that all the argument contrary to what I posted has all been because I'm a "Jaedong fanboy", a phrase and a name I didnt even mention in the article, and no one, not a single reply dared to question the logic of what I said. HAHA.
Moving on. I just updated the OP for the Day 2, where that noob Jaedong place, and I have yet to post the analysis I prepared for that day.
This took longer than intended. I think this is all for now.

I think you could have done without the preamble.
I'm kind of more interested about your experiences as a BW fan in Korea TBH hahaha. As a foreigner, the internet is the only way I can view the scene and it always seems very far away. What is it like actually having the option to go see live matches once in awhile, or to know that you could go to a event like courage if you wanted to? Does the dream seem closer? Even if you don't particularly want to be a progamer, do you feel a little more attached to their lives, living in the same country with them?
How do you think Korean and foreigner fans might differ? This is what I'm interested in Perhaps it is difficult to imagine what it is like to be a foreigner fan, but you can at least share experiences you think might be unique to your country. If you please, anyway.

Explains a lot. I think your English is great for someone who couldn't understand anything during NATE. Your fanboyism and passion is also great but for some it's too raw and they get offended by it (especially when you include analysis).
I do want to read more blogs from you though, especially considering your access to the Korean BW scene.
As with Chef I wanna ask you (just one question): how are BW fans looked upon in SK? Sports nuts are everywhere and are generally tolerated, but how about e-Sports fans? Do people think they're a bit silly for being passionate about computer/video games?

This is what I'm interested in Perhaps it is difficult to imagine what it is like to be a foreigner fan, but you can at least share experiences you think might be unique to your country. If you please, anyway. Maybe in another thread, but let me answer you quickly. The main difference I see in the way foreigners view BW compared to koreans is how they analyze the game, progamers and fans. Mostly after the day after the match, people will be talking about whether Jeadong focused fire too much at Bisu's zealots, or how many a-moves it should have taken for the hydras to at least delay until the 2nd wave or lurkers were up. While foreigners tend to see it as build issue, like 3hm vs +1 speedlot or whatever. I think koreans tend to think of builds as given, its only a matter of ecxecution, especially the parts where the game is decided where one gains a .001% advantage and improves on it until it becomes a victory. you can see this in the interviews of progamers also. also, i hope this is not an arrogant statement, but most kids here can really play well, like dominate C/B in ICCup. It is not something people really think about. Which means that when you become a progamer, you really have to be in it very deep, like almost decadent LOL. But their lives improve once they are in pro houses kk second, regarding venues, most of the matches are in specific venues. so unless you live in the area, or want an autographed shirt, most prefer tv, since it is everywhere also. but the finals are a different thing. it is a time where every youth in korea commune. And this season it will not be different, as we will all come to celebrate Jaedong's MSL victory, and his 6th gold! :p

1.2 19 May Things that really get me: 1. Outright ignorant statements 2. Defending an ignorant statement
OK, here's the context. Sometimes, I assume this is a universal behaviour, when I go over a thread, there are people I pay attention to in reading their posts, there are even some that I actively seek out if they had anything to say on a particular thread. On the other hand, there are those that I just go "Oh no this guy again." To me that person is Blindrawr. I dont mind that he is everywhere accumulating 6000+ posts in barely a year, but his one-line barely-contributory remarks are really to ubiquitous to not notice. In fact, lately it has been more like "Lord please don't let me stumble upon a post of that guy again, at least not until he is actually saying something and not merely grunting or following up on other's replies" Very well, he replied on both the LR threads, one regarding the analysis, and the other on the hate bandwagon. Needless to say, I had to set the record straight. On the second one, Im simply too tired to even entertain it. Good Night for now. Tomorrow is a big day!

Made me lol I must know what your arguments were. Also your blindRawR ad hominem isnt nice man. To be honest the only type of posting that really gets me pissed a balance related one, preferably from someone very ignorant. Hating on a specific user is seems pretty hard for me, since its a big forum. I rather am fan of some users, such as chill iamke55 incontrol and idra ( <3). edit: and cheff ofcourse your brilliant as well.

1.3 20 May Forgot to log 19 May. Anyway, that was the Day 2 of ABC MSL. JD won, perfecting the same build game after game. He was sick though, too bad. Story of the night was Hydra. Mind looked like an honest noob all 3 games. Leta/Flash watch out for Hydra. Today, done with the Leta/Flash "analysis" LOL. You can only get much water from a well on a summer day. Fanboys already warring on the LR. kk.
EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot! There was an awesome gif from Ubersturmfuhrer of the Day 2 game! Everyone check it out. I already asked Uber if he could do it for Day 3, with shorter intervals, maybe 10 secs, between frames... or maybe 5 mins for the TvTs LOL
