I've been lurking on these forums for awhile and this is the first time I've gathered the courage to make a thread. It's because I've run into a rather strange problem and wondered if any of my fellow TL'ers could help me.
Anyways I recently wanted to buy a video game(Heroes of Newerth), but found out it was only available online. Now I don't have a credit card so I wasn't sure what to do, there were some options like paying by mail but it seemed like kinda a hassle.
I had seen credit cards being sold in gas stations, so I figured they might be temporary credit cards that would work. So I searched around and this turned out to be the case. I bought one for a sufficient amount plus a little extra in case there was tax somewhere.
Anyways I went to the website and went through the whole registering process, and started the purchase procedures. Anyways this being my first time making an internet purchase I wasn't entirely sure what to do. I figured the computer needed to read my card to give them my account information, like an atm, so I put my card into the dvd drive.
As it turns out this worked fine and the transaction was approved, and I'm now the proud owner of a Heroes of Newerth account. This is where my problem started however, when I tried to eject the credit card the dvd tray just grinded a bit and nothing came out. I tried everything but I just couldn't get the credit card out of the tray.
I called mac customer service, and they said the tray was probally broken, and to fix it I'd have to send it in for repairs. Problem is my mac is no longer under warrenty and the price tag for this $120. I'm not even sure if the tray is broken, and I don't want to spend $120 to find out.
I checked online to see if anyone else had run into this problem, and found lots of results. The only problem is 95% of them were for windows machines, and the 5% that were for mac weren't very helpful.
So Teamliquid I turn to you if any of you have experience with ejecting credit cards from dvd trays, I would be greatly appreciative, if you know how to please just PM me or post here.
Since obviously it's important to know what kind of computer I have before you can give any technical advice,
It's a macbook pro, Intel Core 2 Duo laptop.
In case your not used to macs, the dvd tray doesn't actually come out, its more of a slot, you just stick the dvd in and it just comes out when you eject.

What brand of credit card was it?

I suggest making another purchase on the credit card, one far over your limit. This will cause the purchase to be "rejected", and the computer will automatically open the tray to reject your card.

Reject and eject are very similar words.

I like how the dvd tray interfaced with your card to make the payment. I need one of those.

So let me get this straight... you put a credit card in your dvd drive and you are wondering why it is not working?

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about your machine now. PM me, and I will take it off your hands for free.
To avoid future problems, someone has taught me that finding something productive to do is a good idea. It has not only the effect of keeping you from feeling boredom, but also keeping your credit card out of the DVD drive. Amazing, isn't it?

you need to get some jelly (grape) and put it on a knife and spread it around in slot to help loosen it up

Don't listen to this man the jelly will ruin your card, and the knife conducts electricity too well. Never put utensils in toasters, wall sockets, or dvd drives.
Have you tried shaking the computer?

Dude my friend tried that but it didn't work. Are you sure it's grape jelly?

Putting the CC in is just a verification process. The transaction is done through the website. Seems pretty self-explanatory.

Of course, I will not be shipping the items back, but you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the card has been removed safely.
