SC2 Sudden Lag

I've been playing SC2 with no problem (graphics setting on low. 16 bit, reduce mouse lag)
but starting from yesterday everything started lagging really badly. I ask the opponents and it doesn't lag for them. I make a game against AI and it's the exact same type of lag. I just finished reinstalling SC2 beta and it doesn't help either.

Specs: (Laptop)
- Windows Vista
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
- RAM 3GB

I'm thinking either it might be virus or maybe Vista is a piece of crap.. is it worth a try to install Windows 7? Any suggestions/possible solutions?

Edit:
Apparently this type of lag is called a freezelag.
Also I've tried to run as system administrator but that just made my game crash.

Laptop???
Start-Control Panel-Power Options - Check High Performance
Mobility Video Cards are greatly decreased in performance if
power options are in power save or balanced. At least in my
experience.

Yep this is a laptop.
Yea they are on High Performance already =p

did u recently install a new driver? if so
go to device manager(right click my computer-> properties-> device manager) and under display adaptors -> click video card -> properties
under drivers tab roll back to latest install driver

does it start as soon as you start playing? Or ir is like after 5 minutes into the game? I have a laptop and i had the same problem its called throttling, its when the laptop doesnt read the temperatures right and causes the processor to lower their power so the temperature can go down

No it starts as soon as the game starts...
how do you prevent throttling?

wow this happened to me exactly i made a post on battle.net forums, what kind of internet are u using? but this problem only happened when i dled the patch

its not a problem with his internet. he says he gets it even against the computer

I think I have the same problem. It's also called stuttering or freezing lag. But for me it happens for at least a few seconds a time and my opponents say I lag when it locks up.
One interesting thing to note though is that it never happens when you spectate a game or watch a replay. It's somehow related to playing... at least in my case.

I also have this problem, opponents/teammates say i lag when it freezes its usually once every 2 min or so for about 3-5 sec, its plenty enough to annoy the crap out of me and ive been searching for a resolution and it seems this problem is well known but blizz wont come up with a fix for it. ive double and triple checked all my settings, tried to changed to full windowed mode etc. pulling out all the stops to fix this and i have yet to be able to!!

I just had this problem on my Dell XPS Studio laptop. SC2 would run fine for like 2 minutes, then lag really bad for about a minute, then go back to normal for some time, then alternate back and forth. It turns out my fan was insanely clogged with dust. Luckily I was still on warranty and had the whole fan/heat sink assembly replaced and it's running very well now. Also, I now point my desk fan right at the back of my laptop when I run SC2 (there was a blog not too long ago suggesting this). If you frequently use your laptop on your couch/bed/pillow/other non-flat surface, you should stop doing this. Let your laptop breathe!
