As much as Jamie (ToTMidiaN) hates taking and being in pictures, knowing my passion for photography, he surprised me with a Canon 40D camera for our two year anniversary. <3

How's it feel to be on THIS side of the camera now?!

I still have a LOT to learn and this camera has a ton of options but I'll share some pictures with you guys. ^^

Just a warning - there's a lot of pictures in that spoiler. I've uploaded them on facebook though, so they aren't that big in size. I think they lose a lot of the detail by being hosted here but... oh well.

Told you it's addictive ^^ Haha the photos of me are actually fine since my face is covered! You did a nice job on those shots. I like the close up of the lights in the water a lot. We should definitely go out and take photos some time - it's more fun to do with other people as you've probably realized. Also I know I've said it before, but congrats on your anniversary

Nice! I've got a 40D myself. It's a great camera that even pros will use as secondary bodies.

One quick tip (that I think will help you, after having seen your first set of photos)...you'll notice that there's not a lot of color depth in your daytime shots. Part of this is due to the fact that you were shooting on an overcast day, which can't be helped. However, it also looks like your ISO setting was set too high for the amount of light there was. You should always try to push for the lowest ISO possible. Outdoors during the day, always have it set to 100. You'll get better pictures with better colors. At night, raise it if and only if you can't handhold it at the shutter speed setting it's forcing you into.

Aside from that, go wild and have fun with that beastly camera! (:

That's another thing I noticed. My hands shake a lot. Of the 29348234 pictures I took today, only like 200 came out sharp - the rest are blurry. I want to play around with settings but... not having much luck with it yet. =/

Just take a bit more time making sure the focus is set properly. Sometimes the camera will be dumb and autofocus on something you didn't intend to be in focus, so you gotta watch out for that.

In an indoor room with limited natural light coming in from outside, you'll generally have to boost your ISO to around 200-400, depending on the relative brightness. Ideally you'll never want to go slower than a 1/50 shutter speed (well...at least that's my limit on hand-holding), but 1/80 or is a safer speed. It also depends on your lens's aperture as well, though.

Get your hands on some Diazepam, it worked for Snake. Lul. I liked most of the pictures, but most of the ones that had sort of an angle to them could have been better, since either the foreground or the background was blurry. I think you can fix that or at least smoothe the transition with a combination of the right lenses and film.

Yah I like the picture of the top of the carousel the most, captures the mood well.
