Hi All,
I just finished running a combined iiNet & Day[9] FFA tournament yesterday, and it was a lot of fun for everyone involved. There were some rather interesting games 
The winner will take home a nice $200 for winning.
The format was 16 players, 4 qualifiers, which the winner of each participating in the final (5 games total)
The player group was selected from Day[9] subscribers
At this stage some of the games will be cast on Funday Monday in 2 weeks (This is subject to change depending on Day[9]'s schedule)
If all goes well hopefully we can continue to do further slightly unusual competitions in the future as well

iNet ran it, Day[9] didn't play in it, he will be using the replays.
Winners and such will come out when it is cast

Definately be tuning in, whats a huge plus is Day[9]s dailys being availble on iiNets Freezone.
Out of curiousity, were ALL the participants Australians or were there foreign entrants as well? Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

I think 2 or 3 were Australia, the rest were foreign. They were chosen from entrants from the Day[9] subscribers (The $5 a month thing)

It's pretty awesome to see that Day9's already working stuff in for the subscriber thing beyond "plz gief munneh k?", sounds pretty sweet, can't wait to watch!

It would be interesting to see more Australian players (that or I'm not looking hard enough)
Im not talking about GSL or even TSL, just more basic exposure like these smaller tournaments, sponsored/promoted/run from Australian based providers like iiNet.
Alot of the time I'm on ladder, tend to encounter more foreigners (HK'ers more then anything), either way, l look forward to see what the replays are like.

It's quite possible. It's easier to get involved in existing entities in time and cost, then to try and kick start a competitive scene in Australia.
It's not out of the question in the future, but it would have to be worth the investment. I do have some other things stirring in the pot right now
