hey man what filter do u use for that tank?? how much of a mess do they make.
i got 2 red ear sliders and i pretty much gotta change water every week in my 40g with an aquaclear70 filtering it @_@

I have two filters. The one I use came with the set and is for 60-70, and I bought a second one that is underwater that supports 50 gallon tanks. But my best suggestion to you issss get rid of one of em, cause there just gonna get bigger :-/. 40g is good for a single turtle for a good amount of time, and plus the tank will stay cleaner.

i dont really want to get rid of one.. i know its a hassle raising 2 but i cant really find a good home i can trust if i was to give one away.
maybe i'll try a dual filtration system as well when i upgrade the tank size, one is pretty big already... probably 5 inches shell diameter from head to tail, the other one is about half her size

Hurray for turtles! When I was younger I had two red-eared sliders. They were wonderful, but eventually they got too big to take care of in my small aquarium and I gave them away to a family friend who worked at a wildlife organisation. At least I knew they were getting a good home. I think I'll have to buy an aquarium and a turtle again sometime soon. I loved having them around, but my goodness did they make a mess! Ha, ha.

I have a tortoise just about the size of my laptop (17" screen), but through out my life I have had about 15 turtles 2 tortoises, I LOVE THEM ZOMG
