If your dad planned to quit this job he should have saved money to bridge the period to a new job. He should have been able to considering his middlemanagement job. Unless he has 122344593458 children or a bad spending habbit. If he planned this well you will all be OK.
Stating you are poor is an intentional exagorition I supose and not an ignorant one. Being poor is not being able to get: Food, shelter, clothes to wear, medical care and basic transportation to go to school/work. What you need to sustain a situation staying safe and healthy. I don't agree with the $2 a day. It is taken out of context. It is enough to get by in India maybe but not in other countries.
The homeless in the Netherlands have to pay 8 Euro for a bed and breakfast and they get kicked out for the rest of the day. Otherwise there is to little incentive for some of them to change their lives because some choose to be alcoholic bums.

But seriously, you do have to understand that shit has an interesting way of pouring in seemingly uneven periods of one's life. I'm quite surprised you're actually more concerned about you losing your phone than the fact the main source of income in your family is gone.
oh and you're life isn't over. If you're going to lose friends or your social life will get damaged because of you not having a phone and being "poor" then you didn't have a social life to begin with.

- I didn't get my phone until this year(17yo), so stop whining.
Your dad will find another job, and it's not the end of the world you don't have a phone anymore. It may sound harsh, but stop whining.

Dude, there's things called email, landline phones, and straight up walking to people's houses to punch them in the face or say hello. I mean, even if you have no internet access there are public libraries in the US where you can check your email for free.
A person with the OP's personality probably shouldn't have a cell phone to begin with, if they truly are 15 or 16.
