I know this is a little weird to see a Blog start from Day 3, but at Day 1 I really thought it wasn't blogworthy so I just didn't make one.

So anyways... This is my 3rd day without any nicotine...
I decided to quit because... Well I can't even run a mile properly now. My legs are fine but my lungs are just... Terrible now. I can't even swim properly. I've been smoking for 4 years now and I think it's a good time to quit.

First 2 days were alot easier than I thought but this 3rd day is killing me.

Being nicotine deprived is alot more painful than I thought. My temper is getting thinner each day and my tolerance for small things is getting lower and lower.

Looking at my posting history I see myself alot bitchier than usual...

Anyways before I blab on too long... Nicotine Withdrawal is probably the worst thing I've ever felt in my life, and I've even had Hernia surgery.

I'll update you guys every week from now D: wish me luck!

PS: If I'm really bitchy today... It means well I'm just angry

I know exactly what you mean.

I went cold turkey for about three weeks up until the middle of June. I was irritable the entire time, but it started to get better. Unfortunately, final exams came around and I picked up another pack, lol.

I've cut down a lot now. I only smoke when I go out and drink nowadays (which unfortunately is still like 2-4 times a week, lol). On off days, I get by without smoking, even if I get major cravings time to time.

Nicotine is a demonic substance.

no seriously. As a young highschooler I really hated drinking. My peers told me smoking does relieve stress but the badside of smoking is lung cancer (lolol). I did exercise but after a certain point running track did not help me relieve my stress so I took up smoking.

Then I got addicted.

It sucks ass the first week, all you want is that god damn shitty ass nicotine. After a week or so, you don't want the nicotine anymore. The headaches are gone, you're temper is gone, you're normal. Two weeks go by, and you just want a cigarette. Not because you want the nicotine, but it was always a habit to put that cigarette in your hands and smoke it. You just want to smoke it to well... smoke it. You don't want it for any other reason other than that it is a habit to do so.

After a while though if you try hard enough you can get the habit out of your system and never even want a cigarette for any reason whatsoever.

I have quit for 3 months once, and once for a month. Both times after the first initial week, the headaches were gone, and the nicotine cravings were gone. But the craving for having a cigarette because it was so habitual was always there. If you can do it, congrats. I'm still smoking, and I swore that i'd never buy a pack after the tax increase on them raising the price at 7-11 to over $5. But then I realized you can buy them from the gas station for $4.40 so bleh.

Try to find a different drug to take to keep your mind off having nicotine. I know a guy who can hook you up with some ketamine.

If you have a cigarette in your hand, look at out the window, look back at the cigarette, think of what you've been through and how you'd hate to go back to smoking. Then 1a2a3a out the window.

GG no re.

Keep going, don't let your macro slip. You've got this game in the bag. Emo is fun for a few days, lets get past that and you'll be smoke free.

if you're quitting smoking because you can't run a mile anymore I have some bad news it's not the cigarettes, it's you being completely out of shape.

yea quitting is great, it might lengthen your life span, and will probably improve your quality of life a few years from now, yay!.. but is it worth it?

lol you should look up the jay leno episode where Gillian Anderson (several years ago) where she admts she just quit smoking. She is visibly crazy/awkward because of the withdrawls. Jay leno even makes the joke that maybe she should pick up smoking again lol.

And yea, best way to break a habit is to start a new one. (a good habit though)
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

GL man. I'm glad I never got addicted, tried it a few times and I didn't dislike it that much, but peer pressure helped me out on this one since most of my peers are all rabidly anti-smoking, so I would've gotten verbally stomped if I ever started taking up smoking as a habbit.

God, I just started smoking since I'm not doing anything with my life at the moment, I'm under the impression that I might get addicted to it in the near future..

I'll start quitting today before I get that fucked up nicotine withdrawals.

Good luck o.o

I'm not trying to quit smoking completely but I've tried to cut down on smoking (been smoking a pack a day lately). I think staying away from activities that you associate with smoking helps. For a lot of people (including myself) it's drinking. I also tend to smoke a lot at PCbang playing dota. Every time I die = light a cig which is why I have to try hard even in pubs -_-;;

Why don't you try toning it down gradually instead of quitting cold? It should be much easier, not to mention more natural (?) for your body.

I don't think going cold turkey is the right approach as you've found out - maybe cut down in smaller increments - like one less per whenever until you've phased it out.

The problem is that weed can actually be more harmful to the lungs than smoking, because instead of blowing out the smoke, you're supposed to hold it in. That said, you smoke weed less on average than cigarettes, but that doesn't really solve the problem.

And good luck, try and try again. It doesn't happen overnight for most people, set real goals, and work your way towards them.

No,

1.) Not everyone holds it in.
2.) Not everyone smokes Marijuana out of a pipe, papers, bong, or anything else that causes combustion, I for instance smoke out of a vaporizer.

And a +1 to your last statement.

Good luck - it's a great decision. Demonstrate your willpower!

No need to view in all or nothing right away - 1 cigarette in a few days is a great reduction from before.

If you used to smoke more then 3-4 a day, stopping cold turkey is a very VERY bad idea. its not going to be effective, or even possible (as you've seen). Try stopping little by little, cut down to 2 a day if you used to have 4. Then next week 1 a day. Then the week after 1 every 2 days. This kind of gradual quitting is way easier to do, and you wont feel the withdrawal symptoms as heavily. Worked for me jes fine. Good luck!~

Why don't you chew some of that nicorette gum or maybe take the patch for a bit, then after like a month or two of that just stop all together. My step dad has been chewing the gum for like 9 years rofl, but it's better than smoking.

It's tough to drop smoking just like that (not a smoker myself, but bunch of my mates are). I think what you should do is to reduce the number of cigs you smoke everyday. Now you're doing 2, maybe after a week you might want do make it 3 for 2 days. Then you know, down to 1 everyday ... And so on.

Try to work out, do sport, and not stressing yourself up. Many of my friends managed to smoke 1-2 cigs a day. But then when exam came, they returned to their 20/day habit.
