So i heard today the girl i like's father had a stroke last thursday and is in the hospital. He is getting better and is alive but I really don't know what to do in this situation, I was going to make a move this week but I dont think thats the best idea at this point in time.

Anyone have experience with this type of situation?

This gives you such an opening. You just ask she is and how her dad is. You then tell her some story about how one of your relatives got really sick but then everything turned out ok. You then try to comfort her as much as possible with out being creepy. Then you make your move once everything is somewhat back to normal with her.

If you actually care about this girl, you should try to be there for emotional support. By doing this, you are hovering dangerously to the dreaded 'friend zone' but you may also end up being seen as extremely attractive once she manages to move on with her life. Basically, be a friend for now, make your move later.

I think it's dependant on how close you are to her.

If you aren't very close to her, then leaving her be is probably the best option.

If you're close enough that offering support is natural, the do that. If this is the case, doing something light-hearted is probably the best, since what she needs is distraction / taking her mind off things.

Hmm you girlfriend's father is having a stroke? Then i'd assume he won't live much longer even if he did survive this, so i suggest you to buy some date rape drugs and a lot of booze, and invite his daughter to a crunked up party. After party you won't have to deal with her father, cuz he's in a hospital; PERFECT OPPORTUNITY DON'T MISS IT.
