unobtrusive documentaries that tell a story through interview and seemingly unaltered events tend to be most persuasive imo. I liked it a lot.. was scary to see that side of evangelical Christianity down south. | ||

I don't give a shit if people do any of those things of course, but I have more respect for religious freaks than those that treat important elements of their religion as things that they only follow if they want to. Or claim that it no longer applys in todays world. If you truly believe that everyone goes to hell if they do not follow your religion you sure as fuck should be giving it your all to convert them. | ||

I'd rather people be religious when it's convenient, and rational when it's important. If nothing else, they will be happier people that way. Like the "ex-Mormons" in the video said, it's more because leaving their religion is social suicide, than them actually believing everything. That was Bill's whole point. They put up a tough look on the outside, but within them they know it's not logical. Maybe that's not true with everyone, but certainly with young teenagers who are starting not to believe everything, and who are maybe interacting with people who aren't religious as well. | ||
