Hello TL,
I recently decided that I should get a new mouse and that I would want a Razer one. The trouble is I have other things that I want to save my money for (new CPU, HDD and Case for comp). So I want to know if I really should get a new mouse or not.
I currently have a G5 mouse and I am looking at the Mamba or Death adder. Originally I was gonna get the Mamba even though it is quite expensive, but then I found the Death adder to have almost the same feature as the Mamba. The only difference I could see in them through doing some research into it is that the Mamba has a nicer look (imo), higher DPI max, more customizable buttons, wireless, cool packaging  and it looks like it would be easier to do on the fly DPI changing.
Now for the reason why I want a new mouse. My G5's DPI changing buttons are starting to stick and the side buttons are becoming less and less responsive and the braided cord has ripped in multiple places creating annoying loops of wire.
So TL, I ask you to give me advise on whether or not I should get a new mouse and if so what kind, or if I should just not get one and save my money for something else.

death adder, is an excellent mouse, it has two side buttons, which are perfect for on the fly dpi changes and it's an extremely comfortable mouse.

i bought a pricey 30$ mouse and it broke before I fucking got to my house.. was super sensitive or some shit but I still got my money back so w/e :D

I'd suggest you wait until your G5 becomes really unusable / annoying to use.

G5 is a piece of shit for starcraft, way too bulky, non-symmetrical and has that annoying rib on the right that cuts into your 4th finger.
There's a reason pro-gamers use the logitech mini or the G3.
I suggest you get either a razer copperhead - since they are cheap these days, or salmosa. They are both symmetrical, very light and nicely balanced.
5000 DPI is bullshit btw, no one needs that much. Starcraft is all about accurate movements, not "who can scroll the map fastest".
Oh, someone already suggested copperheads and diamondbacks ;/ Well, looks like paper knows his shit.

I use the Logitech MX518, but that's because I play other games other than starcraft. That said, I've used Logitech mice for my entire computer gaming career, and I'm very happy with the company.
If you're worried about the money part, you need to let us (or rather, me, as I seem to have become TL's unofficial tech guru) know what your system specs are, and what it is you intend to use the new hardware for.

It sounds like your mouse still tracks perfectly mine, I would keep it because side buttons and DPI changing buttons are all features one can live without, especially since you have more important stuff to save for.

This indeed, both the Death Adder and Mamba are REALLY huge, Larger then your G5. I have both a copperhead and a salmosa, also had a lachasis, I really recommend the Salmosa its a great mouse definitely the best i have ever had. And i have had allot ^^.

I use a G5 and I like it. I'm not in love with it but there's nothing wrong with it.
Mines the first gen, it's 2000dpi not 5000, maybe the blue one is 5000 I'm not sure.
Hands aren't symmetrical, I don't know why you'd necessarily want your mouse to be.
The right side depends on how you hold your mouse I guess, I'm a pinky dragger and my ring finger sits comfortably on the right buttons outer skirt area, above the ridge.
Bulkiness is relative, some of us have Man Hands™.
Call logitech and tell them a mouse button stopped working, humor the CS rep by trying to get it to work, if it's under warranty (3 yrs I think) they will ask you for the serial number on the bottom and will probably just send you a new one, if it's out of warranty they will ask you to just send it in as proof. They won't check the button or anything

I've heard that the Mamba was actually really good for a wireless mouse (although if you really wanted to, you can use it wired as well).
