I'm looking to study abroad for 4 weeks this summer, preferably around July through this website I found (aifsabroad.com if anyone's heard of it). I'm hoping TL can help me decide where to go, seeing as so many nationalities are represented here.

They offer a bunch of trips but I've tentatively narrowed my choices down to either Prague or Barcelona. If anyone has experience with either locale feel free to weigh in on my decision. Where would you rather study, assuming you're 20-21 years old?

My primary criterion is level of fun/interest.

Poll: Where is the Awesomest?
(Vote): Prague, Czech Republic
(Vote): Barcelona, Spain
(Vote): Other (please specify)

Been to both places on vacation, loved both places. Both cities are beautiful architecturally looking and I don`t think you will regret going to either places.

The way I see it Barcelona have better food and lots of beaches and generally an awesome weather, while Prague have better beer and woman

Barcelona might be better for the summer.

But Prague is seriously amazing, really beautiful city.

Prague! Spain is overrated, and nobody speaks english. If you're fluent in Spanish it doesn't matter, but the vibe is just so much cooler in prague imo. Cheap, awesome beer and beautiful women = win

I would only consider studying abroad in either England or Korea...places where I can communicate easily.

I hate traveling, and I hate struggling through language to take care of even basic necessities. That's just me, though.

Have been in Barcelona for one day and Prague for two weeks. Prague is my favorite city out of all the ones I have been to. Awesome beer, great nightlife (biggest nightclub in europe for example), more culture than we could see on our school trip and we usually visited 2 or 3 places a day, you can get a awesome dinner at a restaurant for 10 euros, vodka is cheap, cigarettes are even cheaper.
Don't change money on the streets, do it in a bank or one of the exchange houses otherwise they will rip you of. Don't do stupid shit in public when police is around, they will see that you are a tourist and totally fine your ass.

JAPAN!!

I was just about to suggest that haha, but I've only been there for a holiday, don't know what school life will be like. If you do choose Japan get ready to experience awesome things. (And possibly culture shock.)

Prague is amazing. Cheap beer, nice city and friendly people have always been my experience when visiting Prague. The local cuisine is disappointing, but there are many italian restuarants and McD's/KFCs/Burger Kings spread around.
Never been to Barcelona, but during the summer it's supposed to be too hot. Spanish food is nice though.
For a 3rd option Århus and Copenhagen in Denmark are both good, semi-reputable places to study. It's probably going to be a bitch finding a cheap place to live, but if you can, Denmark and danish culture is something to experience.

Gotta agree about Copenhagen. One of the best cities I've ever been to, it's awesome!

Both Prague and Barcelona are awesome. Barcelona has some of the best night clubs in Europe and has a shit ton of other foreign students. Prague is an amazing city, with decent nightlife.

So, I assume you're male, and you're a young stud looking to pick up the chicks? Right right?

Gotcha.

http://www.askmen.com/top_10/travel/20b_travel_top_ten.html

Prague is 5th on the list for the cities with the world's most beautiful women.
I don't see Barcelona on that list.

Go to Prague!

thanks for all the replies everyone
I was hopin the poll results would be lopsided, but nope I still got a tough decision :/
Leaning toward Prague I guess... Barcelona sounds like a non-stop party which might be a bit more than I need. But damn I do love the beach..

dunno about Barcelona, I heard it's an amazing city and I definitely intend to visit it someday.

But I have been to Prague for a short period and man, that is the most beautiful and lovely city I've ever seen. +1 for Prague

Prague, although I would never want to live there. Week-long vacation? Yes. Residency for half a year? No. The city is sinful.

Barcelona pros: food, wines, great location with sea close by, easy to travel to rest of Spain/Portugal/Southern France.

Prague pros: beer, cigarettes (a con if you, like me, don't smoke), easy to travel to southern Germany/Vienna/Budapest + maybe Venice/Milan.

Both palces have nice architecture (plus to Prague since I find Barcelona is a bit over-the-top), art (plus to Barcelona no doubt), and women (tie).

As a third option, it may be worth considering something in Italy. It all depends on what you're studying as well!

Korea is probably the only country I visit every two-three years or so due to the fact that it's my motherland =P

That's why I suggested others, but yeah, Korea is a great/fun option.

The most important consideration here is whether or not you are Asian imo. (Only asking because well, this is TL)
If you actually are asian then stay the "3¤? away from eastern europe in general (including prague)
If you are not then prague is a great city, beatuiful, very rich history, cheap everything, cute girls, you name it.

Mostly basing it on the experiences of asian friends living in, and or visiting Eastern Europe. One is studying medicine at uni in a polish town and he is regulary chased by random gangs wanting to beat him up =p.
Having been to prague it didnt seem _that _ bad there but there racism is still very much present. Cops might fine you for "walking on the wrong side of the road" etc.
