Is that even possible?

You could just go to the live event. There's a guide for that somewhere on here.

I don't think the Korean casts are aired on TV. Someone wrote that they saw the truncated english casts on Airang TV, but I've seen nothing of the sort regarding the Korean casts.

If you want to watch them, download the Korean GOM player and watch them off that.

as awesome as tasteless is, his insight into the games are no where even close to being as good as good korean commentators
that said, i've never watched gom without tasteless, so i have no idea how good the guys for gom are (from scarab though, they appear to be hilarious at least)

to my knowlodge, gom isnt broadcasted on tv, but you can watch it live here

I don't think you can watch Gom on TV.

I watch Gom with Korean commentators too. If you can read any Korean then it's easy to find by navigating the Gom sidepage on the right-handside of Gomplayer.

If you can't read Korean, then still, hunt around the same sidemenu, keep clicking on the pictures of the players / tournament logos and you can find your way to the VOD pages pretty quick (you know you're there). From there, you can see a picture of one of the players and 3 large coloured buttons to click from on the right. 1st one is high quality stream ,2nd one is normal, 3rd one links back to the english commentary.

Agreed on the sad truth that Tasteless doesn't hold a candle to good Korean commentators. Sorry, folks, it's a fucking industry over there.

The GOM Korean commentators aren't bad. They are a step down from the likes of the crew at OGN and MBCGame, as expected, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. On that note, the casters at MBCGame have probably the best personalities according to my biased viewpoint.

This isn't entirely fair - from what I've read, SC commentators tend to break down into color, play by play, and analysis, much like in other sports. From the GOM casts I've seen, Tasteless' role in those casts is far more play by play (which he's quite good at), while Daniel Lee tends to handle color/analysis. They could really use a third caster, though.

hmm maybe
an example of something i really like about the koreans in comparison to the english gom is things like:
commentator: okay the best course of action for player a now would be blah
*player a does exactly that*

the main annoyance i have with tasteless/sdm's commentary though, is that often, not only are they not deep strategically, but also slightly off, or even blatantly incorrect
one recent example i can think of is game 2 of the recent kal v july
i might have been a bit off since it was late and i was sleepy, but i seem to recall tasteless calling the situation favorable to kal, when july was ahead in supply (and zerg having a higher supply count than the protoss is a huge advantage, maybe even autowin)

though, this actually happens sometimes with korean commentators as well
actually no, it only happens with kim carry and he is actually wrong quite often

You cannot watch it on TV - it's not broadcast here as far as I'm aware on anything except the internet. You can get the two main gaming channels (the only gaming channels unless you count Arirang's replays.) OGN and MBC Game using most TVs, but the number of the channel varies so just surf through. Just use GOM player for the GOM casts.

As a side note;

The GOM studio is in Mokdong - anyone can check the guide Elric and myself made for directions. However, I would recommend against it - the commentators (Daniel and Nick.) are no longer in the main room. There is no real formal seating except for a few uncomfortable metal chairs (usually less than 10 people come even if it's big name players playing.)

The Korean commentators have moved up into the formerly let down bleachers and the studio itself is not designed for spectators because live events using audiences are not their focus (unlike OGN/MBC's studios.) if you want to go to the best venue visit OGN's studio at Yongsan's I-Park Mall. Having worked there for over a year now upon a weekly basis I can honestly say it makes a mockery of the MBC LOOX Hero Centre.

They spend too much time making jokes and talking about irrelevant stuff.

My Korean is bad and I only understand like 30% of what the Korean commentators are saying, but I still gain good insight from the moments I do understand...like bringing up notable micro plays or timings the players take advantage of. They even make note of proper or improper unit compositions, expo timings, building placements, etc.

Tasteless and SDM occasionally talk about what the player should be doing, which is more often than not common sense, and talk a lot more about the hype around the players ("July is the BEST at ZvP!!" over and over and over again), and make jokes about kimchi, the panda bear guy and their age difference.

You're right...they really do need a third caster to talk more in-depth about the game. However, still...they could pull it off reasonably if they would talk more about it. I don't doubt their knowledge of the game, they just can't explicate it at all, which frustrates me.

I learn more from hearing Chill, Artosis or Plexa commentate...I even learn more from the 30% of the Korean commentators I can understand.

thanks for the info. for those who have gone, does the environment (OGN vs MBC) change the experience that much? it's more convenient to go to MBC but i'm willing to go to OGN if it makes a difference. sad to hear gom's studio sucks, though

btw i never meant to turn this into a korean commentator vs tasteless/daniel thread, i think both have their +s/-s

Did you read my large comment at all?

TLDR: Don't bother with LOOX or GOM - neither is well designed for spectators (although GOM has a valid reason for this.) OGN's Yongsan studio is way easier to find and much, much nicer. It's the best way to experience live SC/esports by far.

yeah i did, my post was mostly in response to yours because on tv the two studios seemed okay / comparable. i wanted to know the reasons, and i guess the lighting / space restrictions makes a bigger difference than i expected for live sc.

when you take your pictures, do they turn out worse at MBC because of the lighting or something?

I just don't go to LOOX because the Hero Centre is so horribly lit it's not worth it. Plus I live across the other side of town so it's way more convinient for me to go to Yongsan instead (I've said in the past that I'd live in the OGN studios if they'd let me lol.)
