there is definitely a mechanical requirement that must be satisfied before strategy comes into play at all. that's primarily what frustrates new plays, especially if they start on iccup like you did.

you got mad balls for playing so many games on iccup without much prior knowledge of the game and how its played, so props for that. once you get yourself to a mechanical level where you can win consistantly at D, you will start learning the game for real. just tough it out, the game is a lot more fun when you have these tools at your disposal & you get a lot more satisfaction out of improving. losing sucks, but it's a process

You need to follow a build order up until like 20 supply. What's the big deal? After that it's all you.

Starting stuff is always so freakin hard -_-. You just gotta get over that hill! Funny thing is the dude who introduced me to competitive SC + the whole Korean scene also introduced me to Street Fighter. Also, by "introducing" I mean he threw a controller/keyboard at me and owned me repeatedly until I wanted to get better.

Find some buddies you know to practice with. Instead of playing on ICCUP where you might get unlucky and run into 50 noob bashing C+ alts, play with friends and even keep a record to make it somewhat competitive. You're also more likely to see immediate progress by playing with the same people over and over and you can even play specific matchups/build orders as much as you want!

hey sonu, I'm your friend on msn, I remember that last game i played against you. I was telling you to scout more. I never really put too much thought into it. I realized scouting more is important. But you gotta get a basic level of mechanics before you can really enjoy the game.

You gotta get some practically trivial things down before you can accomplish something in sc. 11 gate, 12 gas, goon range etc.that type of stuff isn't hard to do. I'm sure you have that down at least. After that, everything isn't set in stone. Take a second to relax and think about whats the next logical move. Think about how you can lose and what you can do to avoid losing.

Reading is not bad, it was never how I really learned. You gotta get a feel for the game. You've played the game enough to know what to do. You've seen enough progames to see how to do it. Good players don't play with a set build order, thinking ok i gotta get 38 psi to make this building. No they do it almost instinctively, subconsciously, from practice and understanding.

The strategy part of SC is something that cannot exist without understanding the basics of the game. It's my favourite part of SC, but I have to admit you need a level of basics. I don't even think about the build order Im doing, I just do it.

Maybe you're just thinking too much, too much stuff in your head. Think about playing, instead of stressing out every game, you won't enjoy the game that way. You have the determination to be good, I know that.
