This is starting to worry me I have got three BSOD since last night, and random messages keep popping up. Now I can't defrag, or even back-up check. All happened when I launched Eve Online last night when I had Windows Media player, paused, open as well and Firefox. Though I have manged to play Eve and nothing happens at times. Have no restore points available on my comp:

I'm not really sure what you should do. A reformat would probably fix it but that's a lot of trouble so hopefully people have some other suggestions to try before you'd do that.

Maybe try uninstalling Eve and anything else you've downloading since the problem started occurring?

I have had Eve installed long before this problem surfaced.

Reinstall Windows?

Does EVE have lots of third party support like WoW does? Sometimes you can get questionable content on your computer with that stuff, or so I hear...

Post what BSOD errors they were, we'll get a better idea on what the problem is once you do.

Actually a quick google search with some CURSORY glances over discussions, the 2 probable sources are either spyware/trojan or adaptec drivers. But again, unless you post the Stop error codes, its hard to figure out what exactly is causing the problem, but it seems less and less likely a driver or hardware error and more and more likely a spyware trying to run a 16 bit dos program. The first few hits on Google may help you.

This is what usually happens when programs fuck up with your registers. I've been through so much crap trying to fix stuff with the regedit because I allowed some program to mess up with my computer.

Since then I don't download stuff I don't know anymore -_-

Try opening the sysvxd.exe in a text editor. If it looks like an html file, you likely have one of the back door virus.

To get rid of them, I'd go with Hijackthis, and get some experts from one of the forums to walk you through. Good luck.

Suppose I don't know taste of common salt & I want to know it.

??? this has nothing to do with your registry, the error itself stems from a process trying to run a 16 bit dos program in xp. XP has no DOS mode, it has a DOS emulator, the problem arises when the emulator crashes.

I don't understand why people feel obligated to give computer help when they don't understand what the fuck is going on.

Anyways, let us know how it turns out.

This is becoming frustrating, I cant do anything "Windows" of sorts. Can't defrag, analyze, I also can't Run sysvxd.exe. I get the same error message:

Hmm, well try memtest86 run that and see if that checks out.

I know this sounds dumb, but update all of your drivers (manually check them all), did you try the links from Google to see if anything rings a bell?

The reason I ask is because your BSOD code, a 8e, is pretty damn generic, but it usually points to your ram, but alot of BSODs point to your ram when the cause is actually something else. My advice to you is to run a RAM test, memtest86 is the best. Keep in mind this diagnostic will take a while to run.

Lately whenever I have shit like this happening to my pc its just some sort of malware.

Try download GMer to check your pc for rootkits, download malwarebytes, hijackthis, spybot, a decent antivirus etc. Run most of these programs in safe mode so you can be sure that some process isnt disabling it from the start.

(also if my post is completely besides the point, ignore it cuz I'm not claiming to be tech savvy at all lol)

I mean that's a reasonable source of problems.

But its too knee-jerk these days whenever someone presents a specific problem.

Like Stealthblue doesn't sound like an incompetent person, I don't see him going to random websites and picking up some malicious software bundled with something obviously shady which is why I was reluctant to bring up malware right away.

Like I don't run any AV or Spyware remover, namely because smart surfing outweighs any of those and those things seem to create more problems and than actual help. The last major problem I had with my computer was because of an CD-rom driver not being properly updated and that was randomly BSOD-ing my desktop which again pointed problems at the RAM and hard drive, some people said to reformat (which is a last ditch attempt not the first), some people said to buy new RAM/HD, so I saved myself time and money by actually researching the problem.

Anyways, Stealth, I'll be up for helping for as long as you need/have the patience for it

Namely, because I feel something like this will happen to me in the future

God damn things are way worst now. I am still getting the BSOD when launching games, as well as the random window error messages. But now Internet explorer, as well as Firefox crashes when I try to check my email, got a message that XP needs to be reinstalled due to a fatal error and the screen just went blank, and there seems to be malware in my WINDOWS folder which can't be quarantined, or deleted. And I can no longer browse the internet due to after three clicks every click after opens up a new tab to a tulsahomesearch page.

Fuck me.

Hm having trouble with that as well. There is a newer version on the comp than the CD so when it restarts it just ends up as a DOS screen unless I choose classic mode.

"Boot with CD"

?

When you reset your computer it will say which button to hit to enter bios, probably F8 or something around there. Do that then change the boot order to your cd/dvd drive as first

oh and back your shit up if its on the same partition/drive as your OS

Check your ram first....you really don't want to reinstall an OS for a hardware problem, because as you can see reinstalling software for a hardware problem is pretty fucking stupid.
