I saw these clips of this documentary. So touching and I'm amazed how good that class is. Imagine everyone growing up learning those same things. Inspired me really much!

"He believes the world values life less every day." This is so exceedingly true it is excruciating. Not only do people not value life in general, we don't even value our own lives, our integrity, our pride. When you cease to value yourself, you cannot value anything. For someone to be important to you, for someone's life, ideals, culture to matter to you implies that you yourself are of value; that the attention and sensitivity you give to things carries some merit. People say the world has gone to the greedy and selfish, but in reality those who steal, rob and cheat are selfless, they have no respect for themselves and thus are incapable of respect for anything.

I think those videos are so wonderful because you see how the children come to appreciate themselves as individuals (the girl bringing in her father's final drawing, students sharing their personal feelings with classmates), and as a result come to appreciate their peers and the world around them as well.

Thanks for posting, those were really moving.

Doesn't selfless mean the opposite of selfish?

I hated talking about myself and using first person words. For some reason, I also hated people when they talked about themselves only and didn't care and can't seem to appreciate others.

wow. What a great guy, and lovely show. When he dies I'll guaran-damn-tee every one of those students will be there at his funeral. What a cool thing to teach kids.

After a hard day of work, just before going home I got caught up watching the documentary - it was breath of fresh air. A good teacher is worth his weight in gold.

Do they have a follow-up of the kids as they progress outside his class? Just wondering if the message is lost during they're newer classes.

Thank you for posting these.
I feel guilty now, since these 10 years olds have shown that elementary school kids can show greater humanity than I definitely have in my entire life.

Maybe humanity still has a glimmer of hope!

Very good watch. It was like for two years the kids were in group therapy more than school. But they were in school too, so it was better than just therapy in some ways. It would have been nice to let out some more emotion but I intentionally jumped between this and other things to keep from facing my own feelings on a variety of subjects. Those kids are tough.
