Man I love people that "could get 4.0". Get over yourself; little Johnny Lunchpale has a 4.0 because he works at it, and people that try to justify they're poor grades with excuses are bull shit.

this really has nothing to do about my grades. I don't deserve a 4.0 because I didn't work for it. Its as simple as that. Intelligence is a product of effort not being "cut out."

And if you don't put the effort in, you aren't cut out. Look, if you don't wanna try at anything or put work into bettering yourself, that's fine with me. But, parading yourself about as this genius that doesn't succeed because he's lazy is annoying as hell. If you have the smarts, then prove it, but if your grades are mediocre and you haven't accomplished anything, then bragging about your intelligence just looks pompous and ignorant.

I can mildly relate to what you are feeling, except that I consider this being stuck in a rut. I want to have a goal, yet I still don't know what that goal is. It doesn't help that most of my friends are in the exact situation I am in.

Although, don't get me wrong people. I love living life. I just feel I get rather short and interesting opportunities. I guess it's my fault for sitting on my ass all day , and thinking opportunities will find me, when it's the exact opposite.

I need something to kick me off my horse.

I'm not calling other people stupid or dumb, as a matter of fact I know for a fact that 90% of the tl community are smart and surely more knowledgeable than me. The point of this blog was overcoming apathy and reaching one's full potential not to brag. What really annoys me are people who take one sentence out of a post and pretend that's all the OP had to say. It's childish.

also you just did it again. maybe you should just accept that until you stop thinking like this you will never grow. everyone in this world has infinite potential, what makes you so special? if anything is childish it's blaming your poor performance (not just with grades) on apathy.

I blame myself if you haven't gotten it through your thick skull. I'm trying to improve myself; I'm trying to not be apathetic about shit that should matter a lot more in my life. 1. You have mediocre grades.
2. You want better grades.
3. Apathy stops you from getting better grades.

2 and 3 cannot coexist you either care and suck or you don't care and are trolling.

How I do it is:

1) I realize how long I've lived and how much I've experienced.
2) I realize that what I've been through is only a fraction of my life, and that fraction was sheltered and easy. I have a long time to live.
3) I realize that the years I'm in college will probably set the tone for the rest of my life.

Also, the ability to calm down and think rationally is pretty important in this thought process =p.
