But seriously, if this is one of those "Guess how I generated this sequence" things, then there are infinite ways to do that (and I think it's rather pointless to "find" the one that the author was thinking when he wrote this). However, I don't think that's the case here...given the apple, maybe some pop culture reference or something to do with the number of seeds. The first reference that came to my mind was Newton, but I see no connection  | ||

Multiply each number by 2. Now, replace each new number with the corresponding letter of the alphabet. So 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C, and so on. The letters end up spelling m y t o t a l t v. | ||
