EDIT: Please read the material in spoilers below! I put a lot of work into making them, and they don't spoil any recent matches

With the round of 36 kicking into high gear (well, soon), things are looking up for ACE: (Z)GoRush and (T)Casy stand probably the best chances to make it out of their OSL groups.

Gorush is playing in one of his stronger matchups, and is facing off with the almighty Protosses, (P)Tester and (P)BackHo, in their worst matchups (Tester and Backho's win percentage vs Zerg combined is only 10 percent higher than Gorush's record vs Protoss). This should be a group to cruise through (BackHo is significantly better than Tester, and Gorush crushed BackHo in a hilaribad game in the Lost Sagaa MST).

GoRush v BackHo, Lost Saga MST (Summary (lots of images))

BackHo again with Rules of Successful Engagement in PvZ

Prerequisites: Get a stupid haircut and use imba Protoss 1a2a3a4a5a6a7a8a
"a4a"

1) Have no robotics facility and no way of hitting burrowed units and push with a zealot archon force, even after scouting lurkers
"Psionic storm? Never heard of it"

2) Rush in against a Zerg Sim City and get massively flanked, even after scouting the large lurker force prior to the attack. Continue to possess no way of hitting burrowed units (save Grrrr...'s splash trick).
EE HAN TIMINGGGGGGG

3) Zealots melt lurker fire, but continue to engage, with no observers and no psionic storm. Get archons hunted down by zerglings.
Oops.

4) Get zero corsairs and have your natural nexus razed by two guardians
All part of the plan.

5) Roll out with a primarily dragoon-based army against a zerg with cracklings and dark swarm, get obliterated like a C- level ICCup player, and gg out.
"zizi y.. Oh wait i got that banned from all Starleagues "

Gorush wins! Although he doesn't advance that time after having to face off with the APM machine By.Hero and the Proleague god Leta, he will no doubt have a good chance against Tester and Backho.

Backho v GoRush:

Casy meanwhile faces off in his faraway best matchup that earned him the nickname of the "neo emperor" against an all zerg group consisting of the ancient (Z)GGPlay of the Daum OSL (who is now terrible) and the more formidable (Z)Kwanro. The last time Casy and Kwanro met, Casy completely obliterated him in a sad one-sided affair that involved firebats being used to fight dark swarm on Neo Harmony. Casy was already on ACE at this time.

Pikachu zerg has fainted.

Kwanro v Casy:

If there was an OSL where not one, but two ace players, could make the Round of 16 for the first time in Starleague history, this would be it.

ACE HWAITING.

CASY V GORUSH FINALS, YES?

PS: Please read the material in spoilers above! I put a lot of work into making those, and they don't spoil any recent matches.

Wow, GoRush really lucked out if he got Backho and Tester. I really hope he can make it through there.

Casy I'd be more interested to see playing against protoss after what he said in his interview but if he brings his A game I'd love to see some more of his legendary TvZ as well.

Go ACE!

I actually love the fact that Ace has now become so much more interesting. Despite the fact that they are still bottom of the proleague rankings due to having to make up so much ground using the new additions to the roster - they don't seem like so much of an 'auto-lose.' team recently. It would be lovely to see some veterans who are now engaged in military service make it into the later individual rounds. Ace fighting!

oooh, that would pretty amazing if they got past the round of 36 especially since we have not seen much of either player recently.

How does the current OSL format work? I know there is a Ro36, but also a Ro24? How does that work?

And the top 4 from last OSL are auto-seeded to Ro16 right?

I hope Casy and GoRush can do something, GoRush is one of my favorite Zergs.

Top 4 get seeded into Ro16
Everyone else from the previous OSL gets seeded into a 3-person group, with the other two people coming from the offlines. Those two play a Bo3, the winner of that Bo3 plays another one with the seed, and the winner of that advances to the Ro16.

The above is the case for everyone except BackHo, who is automatically seeded in because of his injury and pull-out last OSL (IMO Bisu, despite making semifinals, should be the one seeded into the Ro36 instead of BackHo, because he had to get in through the wildcard after BackHo pulled out).

Yes, they changed the rules to their modern form following the Ever 2008 OSL (I think).

eSTRO and Oz, and tied with MBC, for round 4 in PL.

Plus with players like NC..YellOw nearly being edged out 1:2 in the OSL group stage finals, ACE looks like it will have a moderately successful future!

Nice blog! I really like the pictures, they summarised the game's most important moments for me without me having to watch the vods.

Thanks! Well, they didn't really summarize too well I thought, mostly because the games were rather one sided.

Does anyone know how the people who do real battle reports get their pictures? I just took screen shots from Youtube games, which was rather cumbersome (and not very good in resolution) at times.
