I'll constantly be adding to this section as I watch more animes. For now It will just be one big pile but eventually I might work up enough anti-lazy to organize them by episode length or something.

-Detroit Metal City
-Cromartie High School
-Kara no Kyoukai
-Neon Genesis Evangelion
-Boogiepop Phantom
-Hayate no Gotoku!
-Serial Experiments Lain
-School Rumble
-Cowboy Bebop
-Samurai Champloo
-Haruhi
-Lucky Star
-Code Geass
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
-Miname-ke
-Nausicaä
-Spirited Away
-FLCL
-Golden Boy
-Full Metal Panic? Fomoffu! (Season 1.5)
-Ghost in the Shell (All of them)
-Death Note
-Akira
-Ergo Proxy
-The Place Promised in Our Early Days
-Paprika
-Tekkon Kinkreet
-5 Centimeters Per Second
-Kannagi

Since they're all relatively short this one will be a group review.

Maria+Holic - 12 Episodes

An innovative comedy anime. Innovative in the fact that the main character is not male, but female, and is actually interesting. Interesting in that she has character and is a lesbian. Other fun things to note about the series is that it takes place in an all girl Catholic school and and it contains a cross-dressing man.

I particularly liked the music and the artwork of the series, especially when they transitioned between regular to other styles briefly. Examples: + Show Spoiler +

It was kinda annoying that they would always have stuff relevant to the story after the ending was played though.

No ending really so I can't really comment on how good that was. I guess it leaves it open to more episodes since the manga is ongoing.

[7/10] - The humor probably could get stale fast, and it the quality of the humor can vary between episodes, but overall it doesn't really matter since its only 12 episodes. Worth watching if you want a different comedy as a short change of pace.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket - 6 episode OVA

Terrible, simply awful. Story about a little kid, is this even a Gundam? Animation was awful.
Probably wouldn't be so bad if it didn't focus around a 10 year old, as most of the other characters were fine but seriously, what the fuck.

[2/10] - Some of it was watchable but I fast forwarded through most of it. Don't waste your time.

Mobile Suit Gundam F91 - Movie, 115 Minutes Long

Wow, this one is a real tragedy of staff disputes. Originally intended to be roughly 50 episodes long, this one got scrapped but salvaged into a two hour movie. The result is not favorable.

Fantastic animation. Great sound, as always. The characters were good. The plot was great. None of these things however, can save 50 episodes turned two hours. This seriously skips so much shit you're sometimes left literally dumbfounded as to why this is now happening. This had a good intro, and a great ending, but no meat. Really sad.

[6/10] - I'm actually really disappointed. This could have been such an awesome series, and I really liked the F91 Gundam model too. I give it a favorable score because of what it could have been but really it's not worth watching.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory - 13 Episode OVA

Early episodes were awful, later episodes were decent. The ending was definitely bad. Boring characters, boring and somewhat predictable plot. Music wasn't that great, same deal with the animation.

[4/10] - IMO not worth the watch, go for the movie if you want to know the general plot in 2 hours. OVAs don't seem to be Gundam's strong suite.

Hasn't every anime based in a catholic school been about lesbians though?
Anyway I might check it out since I watched Maria-sama ga Miteru and Strawberry Panic.
No I'm never serious.

Just finished Maria holic too. From reading the description, I really had no idea why I bothered watching, but I really liked it. Shaft also made Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei which shares their really distinctive art style and music selection, which I really liked. It's one of those anime you can pick up a random episode of and watch when you're bored. Even though the end is really abrupt, I don't think I've seen a funnier ending since Excel Saga.

Have you checked out Toradora and Bounen no Xam'd yet? 2 other recent anime that I watched and liked.

Fixed

And I used to think Maria Holic = Maria-sama ga Miteru rofl

And holy... Maria Holic's screencaps. They look like they belong to Cromartie High or something.

I'm not sure if you are serious or not...

Also OP, I've seen all of those recommendations (except Tekkon Kinkreet, Cromartie High School, -Detroit Metal City) and I agree with them BUT...
Remove Kannagi. Seriously. It doesn't fit. And don't say it's about taste because it isn't. There's a lot better anime in that genre than Kannagi. I didn't like Hayate or Lucky Star that much either yet I can understand that people like them, but I don't understand what you'd see in Kannagi.

Except there was the mess with it that eventually led to the manga being put on hiatus, while I can't really say I found the show appealing myself, it does have a niche target audience, no? :p

As for Toradora...well the novels finished up recently, can't say I liked the anime much, but the beginning held some promise. Perhaps the novels would prove to be better...not that it particularly matters in this case.

I agree and once it gets above episode 12, that's when the epicness kicks in.

If that's how you view anime then yes, you would think this.

I liked Kannagi not because it was anything particularly special or creative, I liked it because it was well made. No real flaws, it does the genre right. Good animation, nice sound, likeable characters, reasonably decent plot, good ending.

What's wrong with a strong average anime? Is it such a crime to recommend an anime with no real glaring flaws, even though it's not anything special? If people didn't like this kind of stuff, I'm sure we would see more innovative stories and a more balanced distribution of animes among genres, yet we don't. True, most average stuff is just that, mediocre. But I feel Kannagi does the romantic comedy just right, therefore I recommend it.

Btw it will take a lot of convincing for me to change any of my opinions, however wrong they may be.

Idk add it to each OP 'cause it might be useful. Or not. Either way, there it is.

That is useful, and I've seen it many times before, however in the end, it represents a culmination of the author's personal preferences, as my list is. Although a lot of that is redundant, I can not fully endorse it, as I disapprove of some of the animes listed upon that, and have not watched all of the animes listed upon it as well.

Well all lists of recommendations ultimately work out that way unless you simply pool together animes by how well received they are from a certain place, and even then that simply changes the preference from a singular person to a group.

OP, how about something on your opinion of this season, we have quite a diverse season here with many shows much hyped. Personally being lazy and opting to wait to see what sub groups are doing what :p

lol. I would love to but how I watch anime is in random order, randomly. Half the time I download new ones to watch them, other times I download ones I already have on my HD, and yet still I watch others which people recommend to me.

The main problem though is the fact that I really hate waiting each week for a new episode. I pretty much only download completed series, as a result of how I watch anime (in bulk, spontaneously).

I'm planning to make a post after the 3rd episode of all of them are out. It's difficult to make a qualified guess of how good one anime is just after the first episode. I'm currently following every show subbed (There's more than normally this season, about 30 so far) and since there are quite a few people interested in anime here I might as well try to make a big blog post with a short review of all of them.

Yeah, that's why instead of a review I simply asked for "something", a few words about notable things was enough. Are you watching them raw though? Afaik not all of them have sub groups.

Time to see what episode of Haruhi is this week's.

EDIT - Ep3 by airing order, looks like they are reairing season 1 in chronological order first, time to stop paying attention for the next 3 months.

I said I'm following all subbed ones... There's surprisingly many subs out after just a week. But yeah, as I said, I'm going to write some words about every show after 2nd or 3rd is out for all of them. Probably in a week.

Oops, need to learn to read more carefully, just reading the numbers made me think of raws since I don't tend to pay too much attention to subgroups outside of a few specific ones. Did look like more torrents of random subgroups than usual though, the usual oversubbing of a few series too. -.-

Oh well, with Haruhi done there isn't anything else today to pay attention to.
