Paranoia Agent - 13 Episodes

I thought this was going to be good but it was pretty bad.

A mystery / psychological anime revolving around a series of physical assaults by "Shōnen Bat" (or Lil' Slugger if you prefer).

Plot started out ok but quickly lost steam, I became disinterested really fast. In the second portion of the anime I was wondering if I was watching the same thing as when I started, and that's not a good thing. Quite boring near the end as well. I think it tries to be clever or satirical, but it really only succeeds at providing some limited social commentary from the creator.

I liked the intro, music, episode 9, and the animation was acceptable, but seriously the plot wasn't good. At all. This series of screenshots from episode 9 explain exactly how I felt throughout the entire series.

[4/10] - Not worth watching the entire thing. Watch episode 9 if you relatively know what Shōnen Bat is as a character. That episode is funny.

Obviously de gustibus non est disputandum but Paranoia Agent is my favorite anime. It seemed to me like the show is not really meant to be enjoyable, so if all you're after is some entertainment then this would not be a great choice.

I thought the social commentary was amazing, and that completely made the show for me. The line that just hit me like a ton of bricks was: + Show Spoiler +

It looks like just after the war

I think that was episode 12, might have been 13 though. One of these days, when I don't have to wake up in 6 hours for work, I'm going to write a long post on why Paranoia Agent is so amazing. Maybe I'll put it here.
