So I was driving down a three lane, one way street Wednesday. I was in the far left lane when someone pulled out from a side street on the right, crossed all 3 lanes, and plowed into my car.
I had a police report made. I'm trying to get things taken care of with my insurance, but he gave me the wrong information for his insurance.
I really have no idea what to do next since I've never been in this situation before.
My agent, as well as his, can't do anything because they can't find him in their database with the information I do have.
He's not answering his phone, or returning calls.
Any ideas? I'm really lost here, and I need to get my car fixed asap.

Did you get his license plate?
Also, what was his insurance information written on that you copied? Did it look like a real insurance card?
Did the police officer who came collect any info?
|
yeah if you have his license plate = hes owned. owned that he has to pay for that shit(or his insurance if he has, big LOL if he doesnt but if hes giving you wrong info, he probably doesnt) and falsifying insurance information(police shit). good luck.

I didn't see his actual insurance card.
The officer gave us forms to fill out with all the required information fields and what not. The officer then verified that the forms were correct (Or so I thought) and we exchanged them.
I do have his license plate number.

okay, go to the police with the license plate or have your insurance to figure out. and not all police actually "check" it, theyre just looking at it to see if you guys wrote anything. police are lazy people.

I do have his license plate number. You have the plate number and your insurance agent has not given you any advice? I'd double check with my insurance company and then if he isn't helpful call the police non-emergency number and explain the situation and ask how they can use the license plate to nail him (unless the car was stolen?)
Wait a little while for other people to respond though in case they have more specific advice. The people who I would normally check with before offering advice on this topic are not available atm.

Holy crap I thought micronesia was just spamming this thread

If you filed the police report, it will eventually work out. They've got the info they need. It will probably take forever though.

OK, so my mom is a fucking pro.
I live in a different state than my mom, so I didn't really talk to her about it that much.
I was driving my girlfriend's car, on her parents insurance policy, so I wasn't even sure how much my mom could help.
My mom works for All State, so I sent her an e-mail asking what to do. She asked for all the information I have on the guy, after giving it to her, she replied with something like
"OK, I found his policy and filed a claim for you. You should get a call from X to go over things."
Like wtf? Did the insurance company my girlfriend's parents use not have a clue? My mom found the guy in like 10 minutes.
My mom also gave me a recommendation/instructions for renting a car as cheap as possible during the time it takes to get the repairs done. She's a fucking insurance beast.

Maybe ur insurance company was trying to jib you or something or that whoever handled it was a noob.
