it's not biased. it's just a report on what happened. it's not taking shots at nony Denial? You know, you'd figure that in a purely written medium where your previous statements appear above subsequent ones, it'd be impossible to say you didn't just say something that you obviously did. If this guy wants to defend himself, fine...but nothing's more frustrating than reading someone tell you that they didn't write what is sitting in plain text 100 pixels above.

That being said, this guy has some of those elements, but it's written very poorly. It had potential, but missed the mark.

edit: to be fair though, not ALL gg articles are like that. I actually quite like Raistlin's stuff (ie interview with artosis).

Or it could just be that we don't have an opinion area in our news, and I'm just being anal. Whatev~~

Whatev~~ (If this is addressed at me: ) I'm absolutely not saying there's no place for opinion in SC articles - like you, I'd rather read an opinionated article than a completely balanced one, even if I disagree with the opinion expressed. But an opinion piece that features either some clever digs at a certain player or just a good argument is totally different from over-the-top, borderline-slanderous bullshit that has little basis in reality. When you find yourself wondering if a piece's author even watched the games in question, his "opinion" piece has wandered a bit too far from the facts. Point is: opinion articles / commentary / clever satire? Great! Plain old exaggeration claimed as unbiased reportage? Not so hot.

Oh yeah, I totally agree with you completely, and I was just making an observation, not knocking your writing in the slightest. I'm just being a news nerd and being anal, cuz that's commentary more than news (which is what it's filed under on the main page). Putting the byline as 'Commentary by JWD' is more appropriate than 'by JWD', since the latter gives the impression that it's news and void of opinion. Maybe something for the mods to think about, since we're sitting here talking about how that article is easily misinterpreted as news. Frankly, he could take a big old dump on Nony for all I care, as long as it's not pretending to be news.

Putting the byline as 'Commentary by JWD' is more appropriate than 'by JWD', since the latter gives the impression that it's news and void of opinion. This is a good point - but I'd argue that people already know to expect commentary from TL's "News" section. Straight SC "News" was much more in demand at TL's time of birth, when the game's foreign following was smaller and VODs were damn near impossible to come across. These days, everyone can cruise to YouTube to watch games and about a billion other places to see their results. Thus, to remain useful, most SC writers have started writing commentary rather than just reports. Actually I think that the "battle report" is dead (and with good reason) - it takes as long to read a detailed battle report as it does to simply watch the game in question. What I look for in SC coverage is smart analysis (both of in-game events like strategy decisions and more general happenings in the scene).

It's actually really interesting, cuz the evolution of coverage closely mirrors journalism as a whole :o It's kinda like a hybrid of a blog and a column—cool stuff. Anyway, keep it up dude
