Long story short, I decided I might as well right some mini reviews on animes I watch after I'm done with them as I see that anime recommendation thread pop up every couple of months. I'll probably be writing these up every couple of weeks as I finish them but depending on my mood I can watch many very quickly, or go long periods of time without watching anything due to certain circumstances.
Hayate no Gotoku! - 52 Episodes
Basically your average random humor comedy anime with a heavy dose of parody. Plot revolves around the life of an unlucky highschooler who, due to his parents leaving an enormous debt upon him, manages to find himself in butler servitude towards the insanely rich Sanzenin Nagi.
The plot is weak, however this is pretty much expected due to the nature of the show. Everything else is pretty much average, save for the humor, mainly the parody which a large chunk of the show consists of. + Show Spoiler +The Akira joke was especially funny to me. Overall, if you haven't seen a large number and variety of the major animes,(20+), I wouldn't bother watching it as you simply wouldn't understand the majority of the jokes, which is basically the best part. Otherwise, decent anime. [7/10]
I didn't care for the OPs as all KOTOKO songs sound the same to me but I rather liked the EDs (2 & 3)
I'll probably end up watching Double Zeta next.

Bleach Code Geass Death Note
all AMAZING
|
Gurren Lagann. Still best anime of all time.
|
|
rofl gurren lagann? bandwagon anyone? bleach? bandwagon anyone? death note is probably by far one of the best, but the other 2?? um.. spriggan is awesome, what else... hellsing was alright, but that was only because i got tired of shitty pussy characters.
|
|
Bandwagon Anyone Q_Q, If allot of people like an anime it doesn't suddenly become bad. Gurren Lagann is a very good Anime, Bleach tho not at all (never ending bullshit more please).
I started watching Macross Frontier today 6th episode atm, I really recommend this one its great.
@ OP, i was planning on watching this Guess ill keep it on hold a little while longer doesn't seem that great.

bleach + naruto manga rox
anyway, if you havent seen these anime's, i would highly recommend them: Full metal alchemist Rurouni Kenshin Full Metal Panic GTO
|
death note is epic Until + Show Spoiler +, then it's all downhill from there.
Inuyasha's first episode well first 2 iirc were extremely well done, the characters were articulate, and intelligent, then all of a sudden, they dumbed it down 50 iq points, it was ridiculous, the potential for that series was immense.
full metal alchemist is fun.
bleach needs it's priorities straightened out.
DBZ FTW well after the cell saga it started to drop but, it was still enjoyable.
DB GT was terrible imo
Yu Yu hakusho was epic. they could've made the last season longer .
Rorouni Kensin. great, the Ova's are epic
OutLaw- Star masterpiece. i cant believe i forgot it.
Naruto, meh another series that needs it's priorities straightened out.
will edit again when i think of more
|
|
Black Lagoon check it out

is full metal panic any good?

Nobody has mentioned Haruhi yet, I assume this heralds the downfall of this place.

1st season - No. Average at best 2nd season - Change of genre, very enjoyable, very funny. 3rd season - Return to original style, average, at least it was better than the first.

Golden Boy and Cromartie High School!
I would regret dying if I had not seen those animes.

Manifesto thanks for dropping golden boy, I don't usually watch anime because of the action cliche (I've watched death note and FMA, couldn't resist) but this show is great, especially because i am a young adult.

I've seen quite a bit of anime now thinking if i qualified for 20+ or not. Love anime so much.
Is Monster worth the terrible slowness of the first like 25+maybe episodes? I stopped watching at 25 cause of the slowness and havn't read the manga yet. Comedy anime not 100% my thing

last anime that got me was hunter x
|
rofl gurren lagann is totally bandwagon. the last half of the anime was like.. lets make this already gigantic robot, bigger, and bigger, annddddd bigger, until, it is as big as the universe itself and can get no bigger. golden boy excellent, FLCL if u can understand it. (if u can u never have to watch another 1010010234981234 episode shonen ever again cuz FLCL sums it up) Monster, slow, so slow, dont have the patience. macross frontier.... iono, space opera ftl? anyone? space opera? cmon... its SPACE OPERA!!! gotta be put off by that right?

+1 for Code Geass. Lelouch is the best character everrrrrrrrrr.

Stuff you should read (or see)
One Piece, there are some not so good arcs that still are better than a shit ton of animes Gantz- a must read, I think the anime cuts off retardedly Claymore- great animation but the ending of the anime is once again stupid Hunter x Hunter (maybe not latest 2 arcs but everything else) Also author of Yu Yu Hakusho, but this is probably his better work imo Death Note (first half only)-
Berserk anime subbed, it is kick ass - ending is horrifying to watch and will confuse many
Berserk manga is rated #1 in Japan but it's really weird sometimes, the anime also makes the right cuts in my opinion in the arc it shows.
Stuff you should read if you read the above:
Naruto - it has its moments Bleach- some really nice parts (Kenpachi) but currently a turd DBZ - most overrated anime but isn't that bad, just don't watch it and experience the filler of repeated punches and people making faces and grunting
|
BLEACH AHAHAHA who wrote it cmon lynch him

darker than black and ergo proxy are awesome. and yes, monster is worth finishing, though i don't really remember any of it being slow....?

Eww Code Geass was good but Bleach is average and Death Note was only 1/2 good for obvious reasons.
What kind of genre do you like? I have a good list of Anime's that everyone should watch of a specific genre.
If you liked Evangelion then Serial Experiments Lain is a very good call for example.

Hmmm, currently watching clannad - Love it. I'm on the first season, not on After Story yet. Watching it literally as I type this. toradora - Love certain parts of it. It has some nice moments but it could have been better as a whole. kokaku no regios - I'm enjoying it. Though I wouldn't call it really good. asu no yoichi - It's so bad but kinda funny and cute. TBH it's so retarded that I'll probably stop watching. But the first episode with the main characters father's joke is worth it alone lol. Honey and Clover - It takes more than the usual three episodes to get used to and the main character annoys you or the art might be a bit meh at first, but I think it's really good.
Just finished watching & Recommending Bounen No Xam'd - A really good and nice story. I think it's just awesome.
Currently dragging my feet through Naruto / Bleach. (Bleach is just going to suck forever unless something totally drastic happens in the universe like all of Ichigo's friends dying... like that'd happen T_T). Like, Bleach's story itself sucks. Naruto i'm still holding out hope for and not reading the manga. Because when Naruto has stuck to the story, (episode 19 of Naruto fucking rocks) I've enjoyed it. Because I read the manga for bleach and was, ".. this isn't really improving. In fact it's stuck in a pattern of suck".
Ones I am contemplating giving a chance *looking for recommendations on anyone who has watched any of these*
Ride Back - Keep starting the first episode and then I play dota. Tytania (prolly not going to give this one a chance without someone recommending it) Skip Beat White Album One Outs - I could only give this one two episodes before I turned it off. Kemono No Soujin Erin Zettai Karen Children Michiko To Hatchin - First episode was meh and overdone but can't judge any show almost by its first episode. Maria + Holic (Yes, I know what this is, haven't watched it though. Funny traps?) Casshern Sins - Watched a few episodes. Seemed kinda cool. Munto TV Tower of Druaga - Aegis & Sword of Uruk (didn't watch first season). Birdy the Mighty Decode (didn't watch first season). Hajime no Ippo Challenger - Heard great things, haven't seen. Zoku Natsume (didn't watch first season) Gundam 00 Second Season (didn't watch the first season) Soul Eater School Rumble - First episode was bad... But everyone tells me it's good if I give it more of a chance. D.Grayman
and... anything shounen ends up bad? Y/N?

[Ride Back] Only seen 6 episodes (Lazy Subbers >.<) Starts off a little weird Like most anime but becomes pretty good after the first episode. Whats it about?: Girl Riding a RideBack owning Corrupt Military noobs
[One Outs] How can you not like One Outs I would definitely give it another try, one of the best anime that season, it indeed starts really shit (black pig lady '-.-) but after episode 2 it becomes EPIC FUCKING WIN. Whats it about?: Gosu Pitcher that joins proffesional BaseBall Team and mindfucks the shit out of everybody.
[Hajime no Ippo] Just Epic also must watch.
[Tower of Druaga] Loved it. watch season 1 first otherwise you won't understand ANYTHING from whats happening in season 2. Its funny and epic at the same time. This really reminds me of playing lineage 2 (MMO) Parties of people go climb a tower and fight monsters to get the top for some epic items.
[Gundam 00] Kinda mainstream anime but really good lots of action nice music and gets you really pumped up.
[Munto TV] Also just started airing, becoming pretty interesting really like the animation and the storyline allot. Can't really say much as i have only seen 5 episodes but also a really good one thats for sure.
[Maria Holic] LOL TRAPS Only watch if you really don't have anything better to do hahaha its from the same caliber as Asu no Yoichi
[Soul Eater] Starts of Good becomes Really shit I dropped it at episode 40 don't bother if you are already watching naturo and bleach its the same only diff story line BORING '-.-
[Casshern] I like it but nothing much happens lots of walking and talking deep anime its nice also a recommendation.
Recommendations If you really like Clanned try Kanon 2006 i'm sure you love it
|
I'm only really a mainstream follower, thatis; I follow Bleach and Naruto
I was purely following Naruto for a couple years, but Bleach was reccomended to me by a friend, who had all the episodes for me.
I then went on a 4-5 day Bleach binge watching all non filler episodes from 1-200 (so approx 120 episodes or something like that), and let me tell you, I really really liked it. Bleach was really good for me when you can just immerse yourself in it and go nuts. I enjoyed Bleach much more than I did Naruto honestly.
After I watched all the episodes, I then hopped into the manga and started reading all the up to weekly releases.
Bleach is really good, untill you get to the waiting for next chapter/episode phase, and then you start to sorta pick it apart because you're just waiting.
+ Show Spoiler [rant about bleach, contains some story…] +What the fuck is going on with the Vaizards, theres like 8 fucking characters who are all supposedly really fucking strong that could completely fuck up everything. And there was like a throw away ending chapter double spead like 30-40 chapters ago where they were all like "time to move out bitches and go do some shit", but you haven't seen crap from them. And then theres all this shit going down with the other captains like Kyoraku & Ukitake, who are pretty baller, and all you want to see is their Bankai, because you know it has to be awesome. But no, they get like 3 chapters between them where they're hardly doing anything. And then Kubo decides that he's been with those guys for too long and fucking jumps away back to Hueco Mundo to do some crap, and now it's up to the waiting phase.
Someone said that Bleach would get interesting if they killed off a bunch of Ichigo's friends, and I sorta agree that Kubo needs to kill some fuckers off. Not nessercarily Ichigo's friends, but come on. Kishi had the balls to kill off a fairly main character like Jirya, Kubo atleast needs to kill off some annoy side characters like a couple Vice Captains or something. There are really just too many characters. 8 Vaizards + 13 Captains + 13 Vice Captains (even though theres the deserters are included) + 10 espada (though some are dead) + espada minions + Ichigo + Rukia + Ichigo's friends+ Urahara & his gang = a fucking metric ton of characters, kill someone, hopefully someone I don't like too
Even though I just had a rant, I'm still pretty into Bleach, since it's mainstream it has a lot of haters, but I don't let that bother me, imo a lot of people like to say crap (even in this thread) like "bandwagon" to people who follow popular stuff. I like what I like and thats pretty much it.

Thanks @ the drauaga / gundam / one outs recommendations. Dunno if I can do one outs though if it keeps up with that ridiculous psychological stuff. It won't kill me but I'll probably get around to that one last and give it 2 more episodes. But yeah I'll probably watch Kanon as well considering I have it on DVD, though it got a much worse rating by anidb so I was skeptical.
Thanks again!

ChaoS, I think it's because you haven't watched a lot of anime. You're an anime newb. Watch some more and see things done way better and stories with much better writing.

Everybody has his own style really, I really like Baww ;_: animes for some reason and animu that that make you think about life (how hard i'm failing in it atm) but adventure/action is fine too. I Don't really like bullshit ecchi nosebleed animes like Maria Holic, Asu no Yoichi, Akikan all that shit. Only reason I watch it is because all the GOOD anime are pretty rare and I have nothing better to do while waiting for starcraft 2 anyway -.-.
|
I haven't watched many but i thought Slam Dunk was halaaaarious and pretty awesome The main character is my favorite ever. I literally was crying of laughter in some parts. The basketball scenes are pretty epic too, I don't even like basketball that much but i still enjoyed it. It's pretty old though
|
Oh I know that. It's just that's why I am saying that to him. I started fairly similarly to him although with a bit of a sparse background, but naruto/bleach got me into it. I really love anime so I don't mean it as a coming down on him, but a sincere, "watch more and find what you really like!".
Guess I should have said that in the first place. T_T!

As far as space opera goes, Crest of the stars was good.
A good story driven anime with great character developement also kinda dark setting is Gankutsuou. Its basically a retelling of the famous Count of Monte Cristo
Mech anime - A vision of escaflowne, if u havent seen this, you havent seen the potential of mech anime
Slam dunk was good but its basket ball Z towards the end. Like 5 fuckin episodes for the last 30 seconds of the match? are you kidding me?
The tower of DRUAGA had a really good first episode, but after that it tried to balance humor and cliche action anime, which really didnt work imo.
Monster is worth watching if you have patience. It honestly took me a couple of months to get through it because eventhough the episodes continue to contribute to the story, its really slow and boring at points. and the climaxes are kinda dull. Still an excellent story though.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but omg...I just finished...
The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
I forgot the official japo name, but I think they're interchangeable. Seriously...that is one of THE best anime I've ever seen. Everything about it is unique, or makes fun of cliches and stereotypes in others...I dunno. I enjoyed it all the way through.

Yeah Haruhi beast.
Zero No Tsukaima - Season 2
Season 2 was REALLY REALLY GOOD, and I liked the other seasons too(3 was kinda meh) but i'm a fanboy of it so my opinion is biased, but season 2 was pretty damn good.
I really like FMP but when you take a step back it has alot of flaws and tbh theres no plot, but almost every anime has no plot lol. It also leaves a shit load of holes in the story, ie TSR's ending, I mean, wtf no more talk about those human sized AS?
Shakugan No Shana is pretty damn good too, made by same people of ZnT ^^, still watching season 1 btw so far so good

ef- a tale of memories and ef- a tale of melodies both incredible and def worth the time. Chaos Head is pretty cool nice and short. Hellsing: havent watched it in a while. |
Full Metal Panic (semi-serious mecha anime)
Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU (hilarious comedy with same characters)
History's Greatest Disciple Kenichi (comedy/fighting with realistic elements/hot chicks/hot chicks/hot chicks)
|
ef was good. I'll disagree with LaLaBye and say that first season of Zerno no Tsukaima was better, but....they were all good, so... xD
Clannad and Kanon are similar, and both are nice, so if you liked one, watch the other...
SnS is awesome, I think I've rewatched it 3 times already, but, I'm just a Shana fanboy...
And, to contribute something original...I really liked Futakoi Alternative (although it was a bit...unoriginal) and Darker Than Black...Welcome to the NHK was very nice.

I swear to God I thought this was a thread for reviewing anime instead of recommending them.
iCame. But seriously I can't wait. Is there any news of when it will start up?
... someone's behind. They said they were going to air Haruhi in the the spring, which got everyone excited, but then it turns out it's just going to be a rerun of the first season.
Amazing that the thread got derailed ON THE SECOND POST.
For the sake of being on topic, here's a review I wrote for Claymore... imo it kidna sucks though. + Show Spoiler +CLAYMORE Version: 1.1 - Changed a feature of the review that was requested.
foreword: If you read this review at all, a little bit of critiquing // opinion-leaving would be highly appreciated.
~~~
In the world of Claymore, giant monsters run around called Youma, essentially demons, and happen to like eating human guts. The Claymores, warriors named for the weapons they wield, are half-demon demon slayers (a little like InuYasha, no?) made by an Organization in existence for an unknown period of time.
ANIMATION - 10-1 = 9
Oh my... Oh my, indeed. The job done here by Madhouse was arousing. The actual artwork and details put into the backgrounds and foregrounds were excellent: trees were trees; water rippled and flowed; and, for the most part, people looked like people. The part of this series with the most intense detail would have to be the warriors` eyes. If you take the time to actually look at it, it almost looks like Madhouse did eyes better than Kyoto Animation, and you know those people do a good job with eyes after watching Air (in which eyes > facial proportions).
On top of the details, there was a hefty amount of fighting in Claymore. There would be, of course, seeing as this is somewhat of a seinen/shounen action series. The action scenes were brilliantly crafted until the end. Movements were made totally fluid, special effects accompanied segments where the Claymores would "power up" with demon energy, and the transition from Silver Witch eyes to Demonoid eyes was always great to watch.
The Opening and Ending sequences stayed consistent throughout the series. They seemed to follow the stereotype of other shounen action series in that they showed viewers the primary villains and allies, mixed along with people along the way. In the intro alone, viewers see a One-Horned Monster (someone I refer to on Claymore-related threads as the superbitch) and another person with a Faint Smile. The quality of animation in both was somewhat higher than in the show itself, as is seen with many other shows.
SOUND - 8
The actors and actresses cast for Claymore did the series justice, and then some. They were, for the most part, fantastic, and matched their roles well. Especially radiant in performance would be Riful, a big bad little lady. She is, depending on how you look at is, portrayed as being someone with no real motivation to do things. She can be threatening and dangerous while at the same time maintaing a charm meant only for helpless girls in the snow. Her seiyuu, Mizuki Nana (Hyuuga Hinata from Naruto and Wrath from FullMetal Alchemist) somehow harnessed the traits of previous roles and manifested them as perfection to stand at the mic for Riful.
The other seiyuu performed to high standards as well, let`s not forget. Everyone was unique, bringing their own unique vocal ranges and talents to the front. Romi Paku (Hitsuguya Toushirou, Temari, Edward Elric), armed with her vast repertoire of talents, brought Bishou no Teresa in as a brilliant heroine. Yusa Kouji (Ichimaru Gin) gave Easley the voice he needed to match his cool and collected manner. And even Galatea was given the "caring girl" archetype by Orikasa Ai, the woman behind Quatre Rebabba Winner and some some girl from Angel Blade (Punish).
Background music is next, I guess. It was, in a word, extreme. This can be taken with a grain of salt based on your own preferences in background music, but for me I happened to love it. The normal BGM was nice. It seemed to belong with the series, giving off a medieval vibe to match the medieval setting. It was in no way stuck to that single type of music, however, as proven with the BGM leading up to and during fight sequences. Going into them, I was bombarded with some addictive Heavy Metal, lacking in vocals, pumping up the atmosphere for the fight. During the fight, it`s toned down a bit to be less extreme. Why? A personal theory would be that Madhouse wished to keep from drawing the viewers` attention into different parts of the episodes while they should keep their focus undivided. But for the pressure-building into-the-fight songs composed by Masanori Takumi, the rest of the soundtrack (also done by Masanori) conveys the emotion set with each scene. At times of peace, slow and melodic tunes would greet the viewers. During the more ominous sequences of Claymore, the music never failed to match.
Finally, we reach the part of the show that hasn`t been brought up yet: sound effects. Everything from the swords clashing to the sound of the half-demons charging up their demon energy would go here, and go here it does. Everything was great: when the swords of fellow warriors clashed (they had their own little spats, too, mind you) it was almost never the exact same clash sound repeated for each and every sword impact for the whole series. They seemed to differ between each general encounter, which is to say that the same impact sounds were used during each individual fight. The only real other part of this section would be the noise that warriors made whenever they charged their powers up. It was described by a relative as the sound that "the laser guns in Star Wars" made. Not bad at all, but I don`t see HOW this action would make a sound at all.
CHARACTER - 8-2 = 6
Deary me, Norihiro Yagi did a brilliant job with his cast of warrioresses here. Each and every one of the girls (and guys, endangered as they are in Claymore) was totally unique, failing to follow preset character archetypes for a vast majority of the series.
There is, of course, a massive amount of character development in Claymore. Strangely, however, it is distributed fairly evenly between everyone, failing to be done in a cheerleader form (in which one or few characters take up all the development of the series). As viewers, we are drawn closer to characters only to have them ripped away from us, leaving behind a sense of longing for more time with the people created for our pleasure. At other times, we take in the traits of the people moving around on the screen, wishing with every fiber of our beings that they GTFO!!!! as fast as possible for the sake of the computer that you just bought.
Perhaps the greatest character in the series (and my favorite), Bishou no Teresa, was fleshed out in nothing more than three episodes. These episodes were, of course, followed up with tons upon tons upon tons upon tons of allusions to the events that took place during these three episodes. She comes across as somewhat of a wolf in sheep`s clothing, but we learn so much about who she is just within the span of time she tells her story. It just goes to show how well done the development in Claymore was.
One who could be called the series` lead heroine would be Clare. She`s blonde, short-haired, and the lowest-ranked of all the Claymore of all the world. Despite the injustice done to her with the ranking, we easily find that she takes on the title of "BAMF" with nothing more than a break of sweat (Teresa wouldn`t even have to move). It is because of her past, shrouded as it is in despair and pain, that the series follows her quest. It`s a quest for a lot of things, really, loaning to the greatness of the story.
STORY - 9-2 = 7
And here we reach another strong point of Claymore. The story, as stated before, follows the path of Clare the demon slayer on her quest to find something. Along the way, we find out about the motive-questionable Organization that creates the half-demons, the origin of the villains of the world (specific villains, at least), and even whether or not Clare reaches her goal.
The story itself moves at a fairly fast pace, leaving no room for people who can`t learn to grasp things that are further than a week apart. Clare`s journey through the unnamed continent on which her story takes place is one that draws people in, never letting go with a deathgrip stronger than the otter Taggerung`s hanging onto the Sword of Martin. On top of the latent captivation being awakened from just watching the first episode, there were no real plot holes to speak of in Claymore. Everything moved with the fluidity of thawed Alps snow down the throat of its drinker. It worked in a fashion built around minisagas, in each of which Clare would add some new ability to her arsenal, all the while pushing forward to meet the goal set before her. With all this, the story would be, of course, far from disappointing.
Surprisingly, however, with all my talk on how brilliantly done Claymore`s story was, any random shmuck would be able to get the gist of it without any problems. Sure, it might take a rewatch to fully understand everything and to analyze the show to its nitty gritty guts, but the story works despite this simplicity.
As with any anime, there are episodes that stand out far more than the others. Most of it was worth watching over and over again, don`t get me wrong, but a particular episode trio stood out for my far above the rest. These episodes would be *drumroll*: Teresa`s story. For all the buildup, that`s a really crappy way to sum it up, right? Anyway, everything about this part of the story was brilliant: the fighting, the story itself, voice acting, its purpose, and even the development for characters at the front and on the sides of the show. This is a must-watch portion of the series, by far its best.
Raki and the Volcanoe of the End
In other words, the flaws of the adaptation of Norihiro Yagi`s work, and there were many.
For starters, we have the fact that the anime went off on a separate tangent from the anime. Though the source could be inaccurate (and on top of that remains unknown, even to me), I heard that this was because Madhouse was only going to do one season of Claymore. This did not have to be a bad thing, however, and I was almost looking forward to how a revised ending would work. Sadly, it was something that I did not expect. The ending even left me feeling like a baseball bat crashed across my head with the force of a swing from Nagato Yuki.
Next up would be Raki. Any list of hated anime characters would be incomplete if he weren`t on it. I don`t quite know why, but a vast portion of the anime viewing community finds Ikari Shinji to top their lists. Such is not the case here, as Raki could destroy Shinji with the hate he`s fostered as the lead good guy of Claymore. Raki is the epitomy of the word "pathetic": his voice is annoying, capable of bleeding the deafest of ears, his attitude is far too one-dimensional, as are his goals, his voice is annoying, like a chalkboard being scratched with steel nails, and he does (almost) absolutely nothing to move the series forward. He even managed to jump into the ending of the series, telling you either how bad the ending was or how bad Raki was to put up with.
Third, we have the animation quality of the ending part of Claymore. When it was broadcast, I was expecting stupendous quality, something at least par with the work that KyoAni produces. "Too bad," I told myself. When I finally got to watching the end of the series, a lot of things were wrong. The "non-spoiler" fault would be that Madhouse began recycling segments of action during the finale and the bout right before it.
Lastly, we have plot holes. I shudder to think how much better the series could have been if Madhouse had chosen to end the first season and go into a series of OVA (in the same fashion as Hunter x Hunter, I think), but alas, they became the organized human form of PHAIL.
To begin, we would need background information. There are three entities in the world operating independently of the Organization, collectively referred to as the Abyssal Ones. Of this trio, two are introduced, and one is even included in the ending, but what of the third? This here would be the problem. The last member of this triumvirate remained unnamed throughout, only alluded to in the remotest of ways somewhere midway into the series.
To describe more would mean spoiling the series more than I may have already, so this will end here, but be warned that, as great as the series is, there ARE flaws in the series. The only way to fix such monstrous downfalls would be to do a second season that, apparently, won`t be done.
VALUE and ENJOYMENT - 7
Well, here we are, ladies and gents, the ending of this little review of mine. Let`s end it with a bang.
Claymore was, in a lot of ways, enjoyable for me. I`ve watched, rewatched, and watched again certain portions of the series, namely the aforementioned story of Bishou no Teresa. Episode eight would have to be my favorite of the series. Sadly, the rest is far from being as rewatchable as this, mostly because this episode was packed with enough action to make Chuck Norris cry.
This is a series that I would DEFINITELY (in caps!!!) recommend to people looking for an action series. It may not be the best to tide one over during the wait between two desired series, but Claymore does more than a good job keeping men interested in women who could kill them with a flick of the wrist and the flash of a giant sword.
- I have no source for whether or not they`re doing a second season. It`s just something I read on the internet. If it`s wrong, it`s wrong, but doesn`t change the fact that there were flaws in Claymore.
Legend of Galactic Heroes (110 Episodes)
It is quite dated though, mind the graphics may not be as flashy as the new Animes, but none the less it has good storyline and interesting battle scenes.
Cheers do you know where to find this anime? (episodes 16+) ive been looking for a couple weeks. Freakin veoh has like episode 1-16 and 87-110 As far as space opera goes, Crest of the stars was good. A good story driven anime with great character developement also kinda dark setting is Gankutsuou. Its basically a retelling of the famous Count of Monte Cristo Mech anime - A vision of escaflowne, if u havent seen this, you havent seen the potential of mech anime Slam dunk was good but its basket ball Z towards the end. Like 5 fuckin episodes for the last 30 seconds of the match? are you kidding me? The tower of DRUAGA had a really good first episode, but after that it tried to balance humor and cliche action anime, which really didnt work imo. Monster is worth watching if you have patience. It honestly took me a couple of months to get through it because eventhough the episodes continue to contribute to the story, its really slow and boring at points. and the climaxes are kinda dull. Still an excellent story though.
Can we post a link here?
Please remove if it is not allowed (It is just strange that this anime is not even licensed yet, might be a niche market)
Monster is good, watched it all already a few years back, lots of twists in the story. (Highly recommended if you like Psychological Thriller?)
I enjoyed gundam 00 a fair amount, granted I havent finished it, assuming that it's even done. not the best gundam ever, but if you're willing to settle for just good, may as well. watch it. I reccomend watching the first season, though I think the second is better(from what I've seen)
soul eater I personally enjoy, I find it extremely funny at times, but also serious enough when it matters. I've only seen up to 36 and I wouldnt say it's one of my favourite animes, but i definitely enjoy it a lot.
d.grayman was a good anime, but maybe a little too slow moving at times. I went through it really fast and was quite disappointed when it was over, but maybe due to the shitty ending. it's one of my favourite animes, but if you dont like an incomplete ending, I'd say to just skip this, or watch it if they ever come out with more.
I assume you didnt want descriptions of the animes, because Im sure you'd find better ones on various sites.
I liked Lucky Star enough to buy the English DVDs when they came out, and the dub is very good, in my opinion. The joke translation/localization was great, and the voice actors interacted well.
I watched them in Japanese with English fansubs, and there were so many parts where they had to explain the jokes (stuff that wouldn't translate nicely like wordplay, jokes that require knowledge of Japanese culture, etc.).
You gotta be fucking me, I have seen some of the dubbed episodes from Lucky Star and the voice actors are AWFUL. I have never seen good dubbed anime except Dragon Ball.
And there is a pretty good reason for this animes get dubbed by Zranked English voice actors while the Japanese voices get done by A voice actors simply because only 1000people watch a dubbed anime = no profit while over a million watch the Japanese voiced ones.
Well I guess Americans are not really used too subs as every movie comes in english but still. Even if you don't understand a shit Japanese the voices are just way way way better ><
also this
this stuff gets just translated into English and makes NO SENSE AT ALL when watching the dub.
On the other hand, I didn`t really like Dragonball Z`s Englsh dub. To each their own.
Some of the jokes do need explaining, but most of the time the character interaction plays out nicely (especially all the banter between Konata/Kagami). Besides, that's what the included liner notes are for. Better than watching a sub that fills a bunch of the screen with translator's notes.
I think that the casting for the English version was done well with prominent English VAs, especially casting Akira's VA out of type (from what I've seen, anyways). The character interaction sounds very natural and flows well. Also, I find the interaction between the characters in English to be better than in Japanese, but that's me.
...Did you just assume that I was American?
I saw it, I liked it, but its a pretty standard anime. There's nothing that will wow you, but characters are pretty cool and individual. Hiruma and taki are my favorite. Although the anime ends at a really weird time. + Show Spoiler +Like the whole anime is building up to the Christmas bowl, but then the anime ends after its semi-final where + Show Spoiler +they win but it stops anyways???
