For some reason, I wasn't connected to my normal wireless network. So, I went over to the little wireless icon on my screen, clicked on it, and went to join my wireless network. But alongside the usual networks in range, I see this:
Excuse me? Death to Infedels? Infedels? I check to see if I'm really seeing that correctly, and it looks like I am. I can't believe it. They misspelled the word 'Infidel'! It's a sorry state of affairs for american education, I'll tell you that. I just can't get over this. I can think of no good reason for this. It probably couldn't be a middle-school kid trying to sound tough. Davis is a college town, and I live right next to campus. Any wireless networks in range of me are almost certainly college students. Which means a student at the University of California at Davis doesn't know how to spell a basic word. I actually live pretty close to some Islamic center, but I doubt that they 1) have a wireless network, and 2)would name it "Death to Infedels" if they did, and 3) that I'd even be in range of their network.
So I'm left with no choice but to believe that a university student never learned to spell. I just pray he (or she) isn't an English major. Just looking at it makes me cringe. This is a sad day.

EDIT: When the image loaded, I immediately averted my eyes to my wireless signal, then tried to click the picture... I feel stupid.
