laptop is past the warranty period .
the power supply goes into the jack pretty loosely and the laptop doesn't get any power. battery doesn't charge and the laptop won't turn on (since its out of batteries and can't run off the power cable cause its broken).
i googled this problem and it seems like it's somewhat common and there's a chance i can fix it by opening up the laptop and trying to desolder/solder the jack on the motherboard.
[]try to fix it? []buy a new computer?

Why would you not try? If you fail go to option number two.

i guess i was wondering if anyone ever had this problem before and could offer some tips or maybe i should send it to a shop to fix.

the facts are these: - problem is common - simple fix is well documented on the internet - no penalty for failure, since laptop is fucked anyway
conclusion: can't be bothered even conducting a basic attempt. buy a new computer.

taking apart a laptop is hard

i'll let you guys know how it goes!

Yeah. What i noticed after years is that when you take things appart, you should turn the screwdriver to the left instead off to the right. Hope this helps!

except you feel like shit if you can't fix it because you just lost time + have to pay.

Oh but it's so worth learning the anatomy of the laptop computer. Seriously.

If you have the money just buy a new computer unless that other labtop had valuable data/you dont have enough money

I've done this after I poured a full cup of tonic water all over my laptop. It was pretty fun, and I fixed it eventually, but it wasn't rewarding in the slightest.
EDIT: The reason? Keeping track of 30+ screws that you can barely even see is the gayest thing ever.

The only real discouraging thing is if you are really bad at working with laptops (like I am, I have no idea how to even take one apart... I've only worked a little with desktops) in which case you try to bug a friend or someone else to help you :3

do it step by step! post pics! if youre going to do it that is. me? i dont recommend. seriously, you fuck up = option two. theres a lot of things that can go wrong.... from static shock.. to you soldering the wrong part.

Find the type, search for the service manual on the internet, that will describe how to take it to bits. Also try to search for similar problems, call the manufacturer's helpdesk anyway, they might know what is even if they won't fix it for you. They might even fix it for you anyways, if you ask nicely.
If I had not had a similar fear of mixing with the precious innards of a laptop, I would have supported intrigue. As it is, if it's screwed up now, it won't get much worse unscrewing it once I guess. (Lamest pun. Sorry.) GL
