I hope he dies in the most painful way possible.
So I have a Great-grandmother who was fairly wealthy, mostly because she had a house in a fairly unpopulated area in Japan, which then became populated. When she sold it, she got quite a sum of money, as you might imagine. She was able to afford a condo in Tokyo afterward, and live comfortably for the rest of her life. This is my understanding of it.
So when she's getting up there in the years, and quite frankly, a bit senile, he goes an 'visits' her. Now he and my mother aren't on the best terms because she thinks he's a slimeball, but here's what I can gather, from his recent e-mails (the only contact with him for three years)and what my mother has told me.
While over there, he spent my great-grandmother's money, and separated her from the relatives who she had cared about, and had her adopt him, even though she had despised him for the past 50 years of her life. Then she changed her will. Previously it was split between my mother, her brother, and couple others. The new will now gave everything to my grandfather.
Also, he didn't tell either my mom or her brother that my great-grandmother died until a couple weeks ago. She died two years ago. When my mom asked how (stroke, cancer, etc.)he just said "the doctor signed a paper saying it was from natural causes" They didn't know she had died because he had tried his best to make her impossible to contact.
I'm furious on so many levels. First of all he caused ME not to benefit from any inheritance money. Second, my uncle just lost his job and the money could have, obviously, helped him out. Also, my grandfather is trying to get my uncle to pay back a sum of money my grandmother gave him years ago as a gift. All this while he's unemployed.
Edit: Also my mom got this body wash for christmas from a friend. I can smell it when she's on another floor and my dad could barely smell it when he sniffed her directly.

Oh wow. A similar situation happened with my grandfather as well and his three children. We found out he died when we saw an obituary in a local newspaper...a month after he was deceased. No need to get into it more than that but man...I feel you're pain.

I'm far more indignant about what he's doing to my uncle. My mother too. See, I wasn't really alive long enough to have known her...when I got old enough to really remember anything she was in the 'where the hell is she' stage.

I'm more angry than upset, because i didn't know her...
I imagine my mum and uncle are very much more in pain.

LOL, Oh I know it makes me sound selfish, and I am, but its honest. I guess its not first of all...cause its not what makes me most mad. But I am annoyed about it.
@cloud: I didn't know her that well so I am upset about that. I'm far more mad about what my grandfather did to my mum and uncle

Sadly, it is not an uncommon situation (in all societies I believe).
My mother-in-law's siblings poisoned her mother against her when the mother was senile. My mother-in-law was taking care of her but the others thought she was only doing it to get money.
Eventually my mother-in-law left and moved back to Osaka because of the pressure. When her mother died her siblings did not even call her to tell her.

So when your grand father is old and senile, go on "visits" to him. Dont hate the player, hate the game- then learn to how play well, and live comfortably for years on end.

Taking advantage of old people is seriously messed up. Maybe when he is old, you can go "visit him". After a few papers signed...all done!

wow, that sounds so absurd to me...so what did your mother-in-law do when/if she found out? if you don't mind me asking that is.
