Woke up from a surprisingly realistic dream about how Earth was going to implode from HIV, and heard this crazy high pitch white noise that wouldn't go away. I tried moving, but obviously couldn't. I swear to God I saw kobolds (from WoW  ) walking in and out of my room talking about slaughtering me. And the more I tried to move, the louder the white noise got.Brb cleaning my underwear.  | ||

 The most interesting thing about the experience was how I realized I was dreaming. Essentially, the dream was taking place at school but something in my mind told me "it's summer time, there is no school, you're dreaming" and I instantly became a God, like I was Neo finally understanding the Matrix I started to do all kinds of crazy things and was having an amazing time. I tried flying and eventually hit a wall. Instead of crashing through the wall and bursting out the other side, the world started to blur like if you used the no clip code for Doom 2 (idclip) and started walking off the map. After a few seconds of seeing these weird blurs I realized I was losing control of my dream and I woke up. I found myself laying it my bed, looking at my ceiling but paralyzed. I started to panic and it got worse as I felt my "soul" floating up towards the ceiling. After rising up a few feet, gravity brought me crashing back to my bed. | ||

, I remember I was reading about them and I would have frequent lucid dreams, they've stopped though T_T, although my favourite was walking around a supermarket and eating everything fuck it was awesome. I could taste and smell chocolate for that dream. | ||

btw, I've had one of these before. Never again. I was about 13-14 and I was in my room just laying in bed in the dark with a crack of light coming in from the door being slightly open. I wasn't really tired and it wasn't really bed time but I just layed down to relax for a minute. My sister and her friends were in the other room talking and I could hear the tv in the other room. Nothing intelligble but it was background noise. I guess I eventually dosed off just barely, and all of the sudden this poster on my wall had the tape come loose and it flung down and started swinging back and forth. It instantly woke me up, but I COULD NOT move. I was completely tripping out, I thought I had a evil ghost or some aliens fucking with me. I didn't see anything and couldn't move so I closed my eyes hard and tried to will myself awake. after about 2-3 minutes the adrenaline dropped down and I started to yelp and my sister came in and was all concerned. I think there is a specific brainwave pattern and timing for this kind of thing to occur. Its really fucking scary, probably the scariest thing ever to happen to me. | ||

Lately however, I've been able to wake up faster, and sometimes the experiences are even cool, rather than horrifying. But it definitely can be terrible, I just had to convince myself that I will eventually wake up, and that nothing that happens in these paralysis bouts can hurt me. If you keep that in mind, and even think about it when it actually happens to you, it can lessen the disturbance. | ||

I wouldn't exactly recommend the experience to anybody because, at least the first few times, it can be down-right fucking scary, and even subsequent episodes aren't exactly 'pleasant'. Out of curiousity, to those who've posted as having experienced these episodes, did you experience similar or other related sleeping issues as children? My mum has told me that as a youngster I experienced a number of night terrors that freaked the shit out of her. I wonder if I had some sort of sleep issues as a kid? | ||
