I'm curious to know what people here are studying in college and why you are studying it. Is it your parents want or yours or perhaps both? I'm not really sure what to major in but from college conventions I've been to, a lot of freshmen are undecided until about their third year.
Also iss anybody majoring/minoring in Sports Management? I'm really into sports, especially basketball and football. I've googled some schools that have this and there aren't many that show up. If you are majoring or minoring in it or know something, can you describe what it's like? Thanks

engineering cuz i like math?? but i want to do computer engineering because im interseted in computers :D
but im not so sure yet

Sports management I heard is popular at SDSU (I might be wrong) because Dennis Green is teaching a core class for that major (former football coach)
I'm a statistics major... =P

specialization in biochemistry. Didn't know what I wanted to do after high school so this seemed like an all-around nice life sciences program. I was also partially (or maybe unconsciously fully) forced by my parents. It wasn't what I expected but it's alright for me. However, I know a ton of people who hate the program lol. They found out biochem is not biology and chemistry
Sports management... you'd probably need to take a human kinetics major along with a business minor. The science stuff isn't too bad, you'll just have to memorize a hell of a lot (bones, muscles etc.)
|
Poli Sci major and writing minor, because I want to.
|
Xusneb, what is biochem then? Lol
But about sports management, I was thinking more into the marketting type, I'm taking AP statistics and I figured this would be a great help if I want to major in sporta management. But I'm thinking about taking anatomy, like sports pyschology and that kind of stuff.

I am currently a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) major and am thinking about minoring in Chinese as well. My goal is to go to med school so I basically chose a major that will have all of my pre med prerequisites. My parents didn't care at all, even though my mom is Chinese, but I got lucky I guess she doesn't make me do things I don't want to do, she just tells me that whatever I choose to do, I better do it well.
If you're interested in sports, maybe consider Exercise Biology? I know about 3 people that are majoring in that and they seem to really enjoy it.

Mathematics, because it's interesting and challenging.

Well it's different in Australia... I'm doing a Bachelor of Science (Professional Software Development) (Specializations: Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise Systems)

Pharmacy major, I make money + guaranteed job after I graduate. Assuming I finish that is
Chemistry isn't my thing, biology isn't my thing, hell, nothing in pharmacy is my thing. I just live through it, just like I lived through high school. :T

electrical engineering. I'm basically guaranteed a job after i graduate, and i like most of the classes. The aspect of being able to see something in my mind and build it appeals to me.
Don't worry about it too much, you can always change your major. lots of things in college arn't exactly like they were in high school, so keep an open mind. For example, from doing physics in high school, what would you expect physics in college to be. Probably lots of kinemataics (study of moving/colliding bodies). Physics is nothing like that in college- a lot more charges, quantum, etc.

Psychology is my major right now.
I am making an effort to dual major in data as well.
|
Biz econ i like exploiting people for their money.
|
econ pre-med because i'm suicidal
|
Computer Science major, because I want to program vidya games and I just like computers and technology period. If I can't do that, there are several jobs across the country that could use a programmer.
I'm minoring in Music because I love it and because I don't really see myself making a career out of teaching or playing. But you never know. I'm only a freshman atm.

:O It's not biology and chemistry? uh oh, that's what I applied as for my major

I study molecular biology (which is pretty much the same as biochemistry), third year. Completely my own choice. Works different in Denmark, there isn't anything called 'majors' or 'minors', you just choose a line of study, and then you apply for the bachelor's program. After I get my bachelor's degree in summer 2009, I'm gonna apply for the master's degree of molecular biology.

fine art.. i left town and took a serious loan to do it.. i dont know why...

Psychology major and philosophy minor, because I loves me some learnings.

TL = Man of Science.
Biology major which I absolutely hate with all the passion in the world was my least favorite class in high school and I suck at it. Would rather be a Chemistry major because I love it and can comprehend concepts much better. Chemistry requires less memorization of stupid shit which is opposite of biology which is basically all memorization. Third year in Biology can't turn back now, also filling out things for Premed, but with the grades I have now its not looking good.
Make sure you major in something you like and don't let other people influence you, be a stubborn asshole that way you can be happy.
