Saturday at noon is when I will be (hopefully) entering Penn College campus. Tournament registration is at the door and I'm all prepared. Going to take home the gold for the team I tell ya.

I've been trying to train for the past week for this event. But what have I been practicing? Well first - this tournament has quite the odd rules making it somewhat nerve racking to play.

Map Pool: Players agree on a map
Best of: 1 - until finals (3).

So basically there is a chance I'm going to get caught up with some Fastest or BGH nooblet who will beat me down with his inexperience of strategy in a best of one, and nothing I will be able to do about it. However, lucky for them my main practice this week has consisted of some delicious maps, believe it or not! I have exclusively practiced on Lost Temple, for a mutual agreement between others who do not want to possibly play low money and if I do not want to play girl maps. Also, any low money players who are not active will very likely be using Lost Temple as their map of choice.

Here are the builds that I have practiced and are planning to use:

ZvP: In Zerg vs. Protoss, I'm ultimately going to open with 12 hatch. I know that if my opponent opens with 2 gate I may have slight trouble, and maybe even make one fatal mistake to my eventual death, but in the end I believe it is the most beneficial build for me. My main problem is sometimes I choke up and try to run a half-cheese half-economy strategy, and what ends up happening is my cheese fails and my economy suffers and I lose the game in the next 3 minutes. This is the one thing I want to overcome in general with ZvP.
ZvT: This is probably the hardest decision for me. I really want to do 3 hatch muta, but something tells me that most of the players showing up will really have next to no experience against decent mutalisk micro. On Lost Temple I decided 100% that I will be performing 2 hatch muta, and possibly on any other map as well. My micro is decent, as well as my multitasking. I don't think I'd be able to bash a C+ Terran with my 2 hatch but the likelihood of one showing up is next to none.
ZvZ: This is the solely gay match up for me. My ZvZ is actually decent but I'm quite worried for many things. They can 4 pool, 3 hatch lings, etc. I finally decided that my build of choice would be 9 overpool -> 11 hatch at expansion. Then I will continue to make zerglings until I can defend my natural, and lay down +2 hatcheries when possible while constantly making drones. If you don't know what is to happen next - it is hydralisks. My Hydra ZvZ is my most solid build. If I am able to get them out I rarely lose, but my main problem is losing my scouting information when they pop out a Spire and they pull some cute move like mass lings after I assume they will be expanding/mutaling. Overall though if I play really safe I think Hydra ZvZ will stop any coin toss.

So - in preparation just once more...
I have today to practice. And it just so happens that my school has a half day today. So I'll be home at 11am EST ready for the next 10 hours of straight practicing. If anyone wants to practice with me I'll either be in Clan SCC on USEast or op sMi. on ICCup (although I'll probably be on east - bring chaos). What I need to practice is, pretty much anything. I will request to play fastest and bgh once in a blue moon to refine my builds and etc.

And finally -- as the lan requests everyone to bring their own stuff, I am required to bring my shit. Also I need a network cable 6ft-10ft. Where can I buy one for today? I'm a hardfailware type of guy so I don't want to show up and be the only retard who can't set his computer up. As far as I know I'll be bringing my monitor, tower, mouse, keyboard, headphones, surge protector (each player only gets one outlet), network cable (???wtf is dat shit???), and I guess that is all. WISH ME LUCKKTHXN.

I am Flyers69ers and i am going to this event. Im about a C- pvz pvt and a C+ B- pvp. I too have been practicing for this event; however, my harddrive crashed so I have not played in about a week. I fixed the harddrive and will install the game tonight. I will practice some and hopefully we can have a good match sometime.

Nice. I really didn't expect anyone above D+ to show up to be honest.
I had so much school work and was sick this week so I'm cramming in all my practice at the last second.

Also - since the format is best of 1; players agree on a map; - what do you think will be the map you will want to play with your opponents? It is definitely hard to practice for an event like this when the map choice is up in the air. Did you practice fastest/bgh at all just incase someone shows up who plays exclusively on those maps? Also - you should play a few games with me tonight if you get your computer up to par again.

I'm in Clan SCC @ USeast "SCC-Faust".

If I get in alright and I can actually set up my computer and get in the SC tournament...

Still in it so far.
They added double elimination.

I am in winner bracket finals I think?
But then I guess the loser of winner bracket finals plays winner of loser bracket finals.
Then that person goes against the winner bracket final winner, right?

And I know the last game was bo3. I wonder what will happen to winner bracket finals and loser bracket finals. Probably still bo1.
