I recently got into the whole grunge thing, and I really like this genere.
There's one particular band I really enjoy listening to, and thats Alice in chains.

A little about the band:

Alice in Chains is a band from Seattle that was created in 1987, and is recognized as one of the "four greate" within the grunge genre.

Their music is mostly inspired by bands such as Black Sabbath and Led zeppelin, and their songs are mostly about drug abuse, which happened to be the downfall of the band, since they never released another album after 1995.
Layne Staley was struggeling with heroin and coke, and died as a result of that in 2002.

I really enjoy the "slower" songs they've made, and here's a few songs I reccomend everyone should check out =)

Sunshine

Nutshell

No excuses

Enjoy

I like their music, but I'm more of a Thrash Metal guy

Soundgarden is a good grunge band right?

I dont know really, I've heard the same thing about soungarden, but I find them boring.
I'd rather listen to nirvana or stone temple pilots.

Badmotorfinger was pretty good though.

Nutshell unplugged is one of my favorite acoustic songs. The pain in Staley's voice is palpable.

Their whole unplugged set is really tight

Fun fact: the day Layne overdosed was the 8 year anniversery of Cobain's suicide

I still can't believe AiC is still considered grunge. Whatever though, one of my top 3 favorite bands.

Alice in Chains Unplugged is a must have. As is Dirt. I could never get tired of those two albums.

I don't care how outplayed it is, Rooster is still one of my most favorite songs.

Whale and wasp is also probably my favorite instrumental. Pure badass.

if you like alice in chains, then obviously nirvana would be another band you may enjoy.
nirvana's unplugged album is one of the best mtv ever recorded, out of a series that's featured a lot of famous acts

...

Seriously yeah AiC is an awesome band. Staley such a great singer, I friggen love vocal haromines too. They wrote so many great songs, their last album was especially good even though Layne didn't have the vocal power of the first 2 cds. Frogs and Sludge Factory are 2 of my favs.

I'm looking forwards to their new album even though I'm not crazy about William Duvall. Seems to me like he doesn't sound aliceinchainish at all... It's like they absolutely wanted people to think that they weren't trying to get a Layne clone. That's fine, but I mean cmon they could have gotten someone who doesn't look and sound like a damn SuRfiN' KeWl dOOD.

I saw Alice in Chains last year, front row center. They had a black dude in place of Staley and he sang really well / sounded like him. It was a really fantastic show. They are an absolutely legendary band.

nirvana, pearl jam, AIC, and soundgarden are the big 4

stone temple pilots are another famous band of similar style.

if you wanna check out a few not so famous bands, screaming trees, mother love bone, and love battery are some good ones.

temple of the dog also created a good album, as well as mad season but there's isn't quite as good.

there are some others that i don't listen to so much like mudhoney and the melvins etc. theyre a bit more punk not really what i like

phenomenal band, Stanley was a hopeless junk till the end, so sad so very sad.

It was all the range of the grunge thank christ soundgarden and Pearl jam avoided the addiction aldo they did daddle.

Jerry cantrell lead guitarist has done solo work but never on the level of AIC and he could never get stanley to wake up to the real world and start making music again.

The Killer is me is one of my fav chill out dark songs of the era.

AIC so unappreciated still doesn't take from there emotional involvement in there songs( both jerry and stanley), SO AMAZING
RIP Stanley always, hopefully making music in Grunge heaven with the rest of the legends (Shannon & Kurt)

This is Whale and Wasp, which I told you before, is probably one of the best instrumentals i've ever heard. I've heard a lot that i liked, but this just sounds like such emotion, shit that you could never get, even with someone singing

You can tell he's struggeling though. But it doesnt make the performance any worse.
