I recently got into the whole grunge thing, and I really like this genere. There's one particular band I really enjoy listening to, and thats Alice in chains.
A little about the band:
Alice in Chains is a band from Seattle that was created in 1987, and is recognized as one of the "four greate" within the grunge genre.
Their music is mostly inspired by bands such as Black Sabbath and Led zeppelin, and their songs are mostly about drug abuse, which happened to be the downfall of the band, since they never released another album after 1995. Layne Staley was struggeling with heroin and coke, and died as a result of that in 2002.
I really enjoy the "slower" songs they've made, and here's a few songs I reccomend everyone should check out =)
if you like alice in chains, then obviously nirvana would be another band you may enjoy. nirvana's unplugged album is one of the best mtv ever recorded, out of a series that's featured a lot of famous acts

Seriously yeah AiC is an awesome band. Staley such a great singer, I friggen love vocal haromines too. They wrote so many great songs, their last album was especially good even though Layne didn't have the vocal power of the first 2 cds. Frogs and Sludge Factory are 2 of my favs.
I'm looking forwards to their new album even though I'm not crazy about William Duvall. Seems to me like he doesn't sound aliceinchainish at all... It's like they absolutely wanted people to think that they weren't trying to get a Layne clone. That's fine, but I mean cmon they could have gotten someone who doesn't look and sound like a damn SuRfiN' KeWl dOOD.
I saw Alice in Chains last year, front row center. They had a black dude in place of Staley and he sang really well / sounded like him. It was a really fantastic show. They are an absolutely legendary band.
the only times i can honestly say ive ever been so filled with emotion by a bands performance to the point where i almost started crying are while seeing alice in chains unplugged and pink floyd's acoustic set.
phenomenal band, Stanley was a hopeless junk till the end, so sad so very sad.
It was all the range of the grunge thank christ soundgarden and Pearl jam avoided the addiction aldo they did daddle.
Jerry cantrell lead guitarist has done solo work but never on the level of AIC and he could never get stanley to wake up to the real world and start making music again.
The Killer is me is one of my fav chill out dark songs of the era.
AIC so unappreciated still doesn't take from there emotional involvement in there songs( both jerry and stanley), SO AMAZING RIP Stanley always, hopefully making music in Grunge heaven with the rest of the legends (Shannon & Kurt)
This is Whale and Wasp, which I told you before, is probably one of the best instrumentals i've ever heard. I've heard a lot that i liked, but this just sounds like such emotion, shit that you could never get, even with someone singing
Haha I love how he fucks it up the first time, then pulls it togheter and nails it 110%. You can tell he's struggeling though. But it doesnt make the performance any worse.
Track listing off the cd: 1. All Secrets Known - 2. Check My Brain 3. Last Of My Kind 4. Your Decision 5. A Looking In View 6. When The Sun Rose Again 7. Acid Bubble 8. Lessons Learned 9. Take Her Out 10. Private Hell 11. Black Gives Way To Blue
A looking in view is available on their website and acid bubble has been leaked a bit on youtube
He sounds similar at the same time as he doesnt try copy layne. He's got an impossible task, but hes fucking owning it. It sounds really really good, some times I even think he sounds better than Layne.
