It all started a few days ago, i was at school during lunch and when i took a bite of my burger, the muscle underneath my jaw started cramping up really bad, ever since then the left side of my face has been kinda paralyzed.
I cant shut my left eye tightly, i cant wiggle my nose like i used to, and i cant even flex my neck muscles on the left side anymore!
I asked my family and friends what they thought and all of them lead to ---->you had a stroke<---- T_T im going to doctor soon to get checked up i hope its nothing bad or ill have to cry.
so what do you guys think? stroke or not T_T ill have answer when i get back from doctors
Poll: Did i have a stroke? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
update:
Ok the doctor said i indeed have Bell's Palsy and that it might be the cause of alot of things such as acne, stress , a virus. But i do have it.
So yup hes gonna give me medical steroids + something for the "could be" virus.
Thanks for all the information guys ^_^v

if its not brain related then its not a stroke, go get a scan.

Why ask a forum of uneducated (in the medicine field) gamers? Wait until you get to the doctor.

left side of the head stroke.

That said, if this happened a few days ago and it is just your face, this is a minor as heck stroke. There are a good amount of spontaneous random problems with facial muscles if memory serves, so doubt it'd be a stroke.

if it would be a stroke (which its most certainly not) it would be on his right side of the brain since his left side is affected.
I really cant say whats happened to you but I would recommend you to go see a doctor if your problems doesnt disappear.

I get that jaw cramping thing all the time. It passes in like 30 secs though and doesn't affect the rest of my face. I doubt it's anything serious though.

Sounds like a mini stroke?
it's not terribly dangerous but may show an underlying problem in your circulatory system,
eat healthier, drink healthier, exercise regularly.
and you can take aspirin in the short term if your worried about another, then you can ask the doctor what it actually is
- This is just general knowledge, I'm not a doctor.
edit: Aspirin thins your blood (if yall didnt know)
|
you can start taking blood thinners and statins if you're really paranoid. also omega-3 fish oil helps if you don't have smell receptors in your nose.

You have Bell's Palsy:
http://kidshealth.org/kid/health_problems/brain/bells_palsy.html
And yes, Bell's Palsy sounds like a stroke...
What probably happened was that the muscle cramped up so much that it pinched the nerve. The nerve can't activate the muscles so the muscles can't contract and that's why they're paralyzed. It depends how long it takes to go away...
On the other hand, it could have been a stroke so I would go to your doc and get tested anyway...
edit: sounds like it has some of cranial nerve 7, 11 and maybe like 3 or something along those lines.

I think it is very unlikley that you had a stroke. Sounds more like a muscle issue or maybe just stress. but it is of course impossible to tell over the internet. It is certainly good to see a doctor though.

That might work... although he's first year med I think and wouldn't necessarily know the answer. He's a smart dude though so he should've heard of bells palsy before.

recent medical related threads: Fitness update [MD] Leg muscle spasm? [P] Women/Chicken taste correlation [Anatomy] Glands in the human body Sleeping Mishapen boobs If Mantoss and Tossgirl had a baby..

I KNOW HUH?!

Before I read the update I was going to say "This is Bells Palsy". But I'm glad you got it figured out. Hope you can handle it well.

Is Bell's Palsy permanent? Stuff sounds serious ... best of luck.

Jim Ross from WWE fame had it, and anyone who remembers him will know how bad it sucks.

- also apart from the corticosteroid and the anti-viral he needs to give eye patches to use at night on the affected eye - and artificial tears to use often during the day (both to prevent corneal ulcers) ( more info u might want to read, if u don't read anything read the eye care part: http://www.bellspalsy.ws/treatment.htm )
- if the jaw pain persists or any of the deep neck muscles gets weaker, get more extensive studies and/or a second opinion..
