So in the process of changing rooms in my barracks my HP laptop Vista running piece of shit has finally croaked. I opened it up to connect it to my network, and the screen is all discoloured and i can see a crack on the inside.

I instantly run over to my iMac and turn on "damn it feels good to be a gangster" and beat the ever loving shit out of the screen of this fucking thing like its a fax machine. I've wanted for so long for this thing to break, and it finally has, and now I've shown it my wrath.

you could probably sell it online, I think people are willing to buy broken laptops for parts. And a Mac desktop is the biggest waste of money. There is absolutely no advantage of having a mac desktop over a much cheaper, more powerful PC. If you're going to get a Mac, get a Macbook, cause that choice actually makes a little more sense

I was waiting for someone to focus on my mac as the main part of the topic. Some people just don't understand that its not always about Mac vs PC, but about Mac OS X vs Windows. I hate Windows, and I love Mac OS X. My Mac has a lot more power than a lot of my friends pcs, and my own back home as well. Yes it was a little bit more expensive, but for OS X it was well worth it. My opinion is I love Mac, and sorry, but I didn't ask for yours on the subject of Macs or PCs.

Why wouldn't you say the same thing about mac. Its still unix based, which is a lot of the benefits that you gain from using linux. You are still learning another OS instead of just using windows, which makes you more versatile. And with the path they are going with making things more user friendly so that you don't have to use terminal for everything in linux, they are steadily working there way towards... a mac?

IMO Mac users get the worst of both worlds. Incompatibility with windows apps/games from unix and a closed source OS like windows.

Both Linux/OS X have bad compatibility with windows applications/games. There are fixes, but they don't always work, and you have to waste a lot of time trying. My friend uses Linux but he's had crashes, slow loading times, errors, compatibility problems - basically all the problems of a windows PC and more. I think that an OS should be intuitive and easy to use, I shouldn't have to "learn" how to use one.

Anyway, why should I care what OS other people use. They chose it, if there's problems they're the ones who have to live with it.
