You are overgeneralizing, and I belive missing the point in many cases.

If you are arguing with someone and typing really quickly, and they are trying to find fault with you, and then call you an idiot for an obvious typo, then they are being an idiot. But I don't like the mentality that because it's the internet you should never correct anyone for anything. If your reasoning is to be a pain in the ass, then you should just stop. But let's be honest. Some people make the same stupid mistakes over and over again without realizing it. Sometimes all it takes is someone to politely point out and possibly explain the error, and it won't happen anymore.

I like it when people correct me if it's because I was mistaken (it's called learning dur). But I agree it can be hard to tell if they are genuine or not, and they can be really dumb about it when they want to.

BTW intrigue if the people typing properly aren't complaining about other people then I see 0 problem. Nothing wrong with practicing proper English.

yeah serious, formal language is a little out of place in casual conversation... it's like a guy who shows up to (public) school in a tie. or how slang is out of place in a serious/formal environment ("yo sup this is my resume... so like when i was 8 my uncle hired me to mow his lawn... he said i did a kickass job so plz hire me thx").

so it's a little weird, but no reason to hold it against people i think, especially when english might not be their native language -- picking up on these little nuances might be hard.

If we confine discussion to film production, it makes sense in this context to speak of national cinemas as non-standard and marginal activities.
