I just played a random guy on East and he had 360 apm in a 39 minutes game. 554 max apm. WTF! Is it possible for somone who is not a progamer? In the middle of the game i thought "omg he must be a hacker he knows everything im doing".

here is the replay link:

i think he didnt spam, but im not sure.

i opened w 3 hatch mutas. he made a corsair before my spire was finished. then i made 2 scourges and was waiting for his corsair to harass ovrlords in my base so i could kill it, but instead, he just waited me in his base, as he knew i was about to make mutas and he knew i was waiting w scourges. he knew of everyplace i have expanded... he must be a hacker or a progamer ffs

Didn't watch the rep but I know people with >250 APM and all they do is 121212121212121221212 in their spare time. I suppose someone can just do 1231232131232131323123 and get 360.

dont know if he spammed, but he used maphack for sure. i only watched the first quarter of the rep, and what i saw says Maphacker!
1. he went fe bust never sent a probe out to scout you (at least not in the first 10minutes)
2. u went spire without any other tech (lurk/hyds), and he went 2 stargate before he scouted your base

what about progamers? surely they'd want to execute mostly valid actions?

Progamers generally don't waste any actions simply to get a larger APM number. I believe spamming is a valid way to keep the blood flowing and the mind going when you're learning though. I find that FORCING myself to spam actions makes me feel as if I need to be using those actions as wisely as possible. Which is after all what the game is all about. I dunno though, I'm relatively noob but it seems to help me gain skill quickly.

It's impossible to average 350 w/o spam. Although that doesn't mean spamming is necessarly bad in all situations. I for one believe spamming can be good in some ways, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people are ready to disagree with me on that part.

as a terran, my apm is around 230. if i'm actually going for HIGH APM, i get like 290 max. it's fucking difficult to spam and play at the same time. it may be because i am terran, but over 350 apm can't be done unless you're spamming and doing nothing or just naturally fast from practicing a lot.

could be multiselect hacks, or if you paused or the game was lagging. I had 10000 apm one time due to lag spike. throwing some ideas in the pile.

Actually I saw that terran By.Velocity having 270 EAPM with like 340 apm. That is such rediculously fast handspeed and ALOT of useful actions for such high apm.

Maybe spamming is just so natural to me now, that i do it without thinking, but im pretty sure i dont spam in late game to much.
