Well, Ive been playing poker recently and Ive been increadibly unlucky. Its been bad beat city. However this isnt really anything new, I have always considered myself unlucky.

So I'm curious, do you think that you are generally an unlucky individual or lucky individual. Im curious as to where everyone would rate themselves. Is there a trend?

So, if you had a 50% chance to win something statistically. What would your actual winning percentage be (factoring your personal luck)?

i don't really think anyone is really "unluckier" then anyone else its the same amount of chance imho but maybe you tend to force issues a lot more then a "luckier" person

However if you have 50% chance to win something statistically your win % will be 50% lol ( on the long term ).

50%, I don't really believe any one of us is simply more lucky than others in every aspect, sure some people WILL be luckier than others during a lifetime, just because of variance and a lifetime is not a big enough sample size for luck to even out. Not just talking about poker either....

That depends mostly on fairies that actions you can't fully predict. If you had left some teeth for tooth fairy then you will be little more lucky in general, throwing some salt behind your back to scare bad ghost is good also.

I feel that I have kinda bad luck with diseases, injurys and things breaking randomly ect. While I dont have much talent in anything (that I have found out yet) I do think some bad luck plays in. Example I often get placed in the last part of start lists and often dead last. I wont bother to go in to how thats annoying but it sucks if you are at par or worse than your opponents when you have interval starts.
I dont play online poker but i dont feel really unlucky in such things, plus you still have to play your cards.

For some reason I only get lucky breaks in emergencies, and am horribly unlucky anytime else. So I guess if I was playing poker for fun then 0%, if I was playing poker because I was in horribly desperate need of money, then 100%

I feel the same way as hawk, I think Im unlucky but then I think about those events where I should have been arrested, etc ... so I guess Im 50%50%

I'm alive, healthy and have time to waste here, so I feel incredibly lucky.
But if something is statistically 50% then it's 50%. Anything different is just you fooling yourself.

I'm cursed. I try to avoid anything involving luck where I'm only 90% to win.

Although I'm damn good at rock paper scissors, which isn't luck at all, but a mind game. The same goes with poker. If you're losing at poker, it's just because you suck, since it's not really a game of luck. The only bad luck in poker is when you make the right read, your opponent makes the wrong one, and he still wins the pot. But half the time when people complain about luck, they're whining about their flush draws never panning out (when really they're winning them as much as they should be).
