Have you ever heard 2 different rap songs? Of course not, because they sound very much alike and deal with exactly the same topics. The songs in the OP aren't even rap... Also: you're extremely uncultured and narrow minded.

But yeah this copy is blatant and absolutely ridiculous that cocksuckers are making money with absolutely no talent. i was playing londonderry air on the piano once and someone asked me if i was playing you raise me up. at that moment i mentally said "ok fuck this song"

It was a simple joke highlighting the fact that when somebody who doesn't listen to a particular genre of music hears a few songs, the songs really tend to be similar lyrically and instrumentally. Ask a few people who love hip-hop to listen to country and they'll tell you the songs are talking about the same stuff, using the same instruments, etc and vice-versa. I found the joke funny because this is true most of all in rap where you can find so many songs that talk about blunts, hoes, rims, benjamins, stacks on deck, patrone on ice, the fact that they can pop bottles all night, and the list goes on. 2. I actually like a lot of rap music...Also: you're extremely shallow-minded because your definition of "uncultured" and "narrow minded" would imply that everybody is.

the Danny boy version isnt entirely original The song was created by Secret Garden, which I think has adaptations from the Londonderry Air theme You cannot say that they are copying, because these are just remades of irish songs. Argubaly, you cay say the lyrics are more suitable to moden theme Although I do agree they should claim its a remade version of the Londonderry Air. But LOTS of songs from secret garden are heavily influenced by folk/traditional music.

what kind of lyrics is that, I hope he's not standing on a girl. I really can't hear the similarities, must be cuz ones got instruments and the others purely vocal. Btw, don't you believe in coincidences? music didn't get "invented" yesterday, it was only a matter of time before two original songs that would sound similar (in your ears) arose.

Anyway, I have no problem with artists covering tunes written by other people, but it takes some gall for Rolf Lovland to claim to be the "composer" of You Raise Me Up. On the other hand, he could hardly have chosen a better-known tune to rip off, so I don't know what he was thinking. Maybe it's supposed to be understood that "composed" means "changed a couple of notes here and there".

The beginning of the choruses are definitely very similar, and for a few notes they are exactly the same, but that doesn't compare to "You Raise Me Up", which is the extremely well-known Londonderry Air, with one or two tiny variations from the usual version. To make it worse, it apparently started as an instrumental piece by the "composer", Rolf Lovland, who then enlisted someone to write words for it. It's absurd that he tries to take any credit for the tune at all.
