What is music? Combination of voices that gives people fun. No matter is this thrashing on drums, singing or mixing sound from samples. This gave to be rytmic and give some people a lot of fun. I am tolerant in case of music - if someone likes techno, I tolerate him even if I hate techno. If someone listen to disco polo (like you in USA have country, we have disco polo ;/) and have fun from it - ok. I do not tolerate when someone flame on other guys music because he do not like it. Everyone likes other music and thats okay, he will probably not change mind so do not bother him! But back to topic. I am listening to metal music. Especially I like more extreme music like death metal, black metal, etc. (mostly black metal at all) If you think that you hate this music, you will never listen to it, ok go read other blogs/threads. Do not give lowest rating right away because you do not like black metal - this is not blog for you. But if someone listen to metal/hardrock music or want to listen it, I as hardcore fan of metal will give few ideas of best bands (you have my mark of quality! :D) that you can know from metal music. So lets start from something less hardcore heading to more extreme ones.
METALLICA
This is band that you should start from if you want to listen metal. Their first four albums (Kill'em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justice For All) are thrash metal. This is damn good music - hard enough and melodic enough in the meantime. This is great combination - really hardcore music that is melodical and popular. Next albums are more heavy metal, more popular kind of music (and more commercial T.T something like hard rock) but still really good and in TOP3 in this kind of music.

VADER
Polish band and I really do not introduce this to you because of I am patriot (while I am not) but because this is DAMN BEST DEATH METAL EVA!!!!11 Maaaaan - this is brutal music, really hard but sooooooooo great. Maybe there are more anti-religion motives but generally lyrics are about wars, fights, something like that. They are my favourite death metal band - really worth it. Most heretic song: "Helleluyah (God Is Dead)" and this is only REALLY heretic song that they made.

BEHEMOTH
Another polish band and one of two only good polish bands (along with Vader of course). They play hybrid between death metal and black metal. So we have more satanism/pagan motives in songs, music is not so concentrated on brutality but a bit more on atmosphere. Something great. They play on world best level from the album "Satanica" but their last album "The Apostasy" is just masterpiece! Check song "At The Left Hand Ov God" and you will know what I mean.

SATYRICON
Maaaaaaaaan just listen to Mother North (but do not watch video when you are not at least 18 years old! :D). Satyricon have great atmosphere, great vocal, great from the music perspective. Just good old black metal. When I listen to some of their songs I have goosebumps. Absolute fantastic band.
BATHORY
One of first bands (?) that started to play black metal. And I have to say - this music is oldschool and Quorthon Seth is one of most talented musicians. Actually he was -> rest in peace... ;( He play black metal as well as viking metal. Just listen to "One Rode To Asa Bay", "Mother Earth Father Thunder", "Nordland", "Song To Hall Up High", "In Conspiracy With Satan", "Satan My Master", "In Nomine Satanas" and many more of his masterpieces.
MARDUK
Maybe my favourite band overall. Just love them. "Bleached Bones" and "Throne of Rats" are my favourite songs. Maybe they are total satanist but their music is just... inspired by Satan? Atmosphere is evil, music very hard but damn good. Just flawless. I want to be on their concert ASAP!!!1 They are incredible even if Legion left band and we have Mortuus now.
I will update my post with quite few bands (maybe tommorow, maybe even today). Now fans of harder music enjoy! :D I hope I will advertise few nice (from your perspective) bands to you.

nice bands, nothing new to me though  Definitely good music
My personal preference in this genre lends my ears to: Death, Atheist, Necrophagist, Arsis ect ect ect you already know.
Edit: Staying polish, mad props to Decapitated Yattering is.. half decent last i heard (many yrs ago)

Well, if you want some amazing death metal, look for Sympathy, its a tech death band like necrophagist, but much more atmospheric, better fitting solos.

Go for Akercocke, Brutality, The Chasm, Prostitute Disfigurement, Opeth, Nachtmystium, Krisiun, Keep Of Kalessin, Hate Eternal, Hour Of Penance, etc.

Oh, and my view on the bands you've posted.
Metallica was never thrash metal, every "thrash" cd they've had, was like 1/8th thrash, and 7/8'ths shit.
Vader is decent, matters which cd, and what your feeling into.
Behemoth....
I loved them, but I loved them when I was getting into metal. Their old black metal was better then their new stuff, or atleast catchier. The new stuff I listen to for a few minutes, and I get bored now.
Decapitated is AMAZING, and I will miss Vitek.

Yeah I will try your bands but I am more into black metal than death. Generally your band seem really interesting.
In case of Metallica. I really like them - maybe because this was my first metal band I ever heard and listen to? I do not know but somehow I like them (and this is true that I like mostly older albums than more commercial new ones).
Emmm... Behemoth? I think that they are great at new album - Apostasy. Maybe Demigod was not that catchable (yeah I listen 1 track of demigod and then switch back to Apostasy) but new album is reeeeally nice.

Well, I'm into more Black then Death too, which is why I love Behemoth's OLDER pre Satanica stuff, like Grom.
Behemoth's new cd to me was one of those... listen to it for a first time and its great, but then every listen after it just kills it.
And if you love black metal, get Akercocke, Nachtmystium, Krohm, Xasthur, Leviathan, Wolves in the throne room.
