I'm stunned the media still bothers to cover Michelle Wie. She routinely gets horrific scores, has never won, and isn't even that young anymore (other golfers of similar or younger age have been more prolific).

And she has freakishly small hands.

My golf teacher used to call her "alien" haha

And to respond to the OP, yes Korean WOMEN are good at golf, not the men, sadly. haha

No, she was good in the amateur leagues until she got cocky and thought she could take on the professional tournaments when she was 16 or so. She played badly and then proceeded to go straight downhill.

no,

Michelle Wie was REALLY GOOD for her age and really long for a woman.

She finished top 5 in 3 majors a few years ago, thats amazing for a 16 year old girl.

She fucked up her wrist and has been under immense media scrutiny ever since, I swear people HATE her now that dont even know her or watch golf. Its sad.

People get angry that she said she wanted to play with the men 1 day, seriously, give it a fucking rest. If i was 16 when she was playing well id want to play in as many tournaments as possible.

NOt to mention before she turned 18 there was an LPGA rule that stipulated you needed to be 18 to be a member of the tour, and non tour members could only take 6 sponsors exemptions a year.

So she couldnt play a full schedule back then, even if she wanted to. So her playing with the men was fine back then.

I just dont understand the hate for any golfer, golf is a incredibly difficult, people need to appreciate just how talented the professionals are.
How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it. Jim Valvano

I didn't mind that she played with men, I'm pretty sure for most people that's not an issue. A vast majority of people who follow golf that I speak to actually rooted for Annika Sorenstam to do well every time she played in the PGA. That's not the issue here.

The issue is that for the past year she's missed the cut like 20 times, but she was too arrogant (or her parents are too retarded) to understand that she needs to accomplish something instead of scoring 80s in the PGA. But for whatever reason they don't understand it. I think for a lot of people the slap in the face was when she withdrew when she was about to knock herself out with like the worst score ever or something, citing an injury, except it was the first time anyone had heard about this injury. Many, many people were angry, including peers as well as the tournament officials. Sure, in retrospect she may have actually been hurt, but no one gave her the benefit of the doubt because of her (or her camp's) attitude.

That's the sort of impression she's made. And to be quite frank, it's up to her to do something about it. It's like Barry Bonds of the MLB except she bats 0.150 and leads the league in strike-outs. People put up with Bonds because of his production, but without it?

In her last 99 holes at major championships, Wie is 34 over par. Comprising her last five major championship finishes are four missed cuts and a tie for 84th. She has battled an injury to her wrist, a soap opera drama in her professional relationships with other L.P.G.A. players, and she has gone through more caddies than most pros have drivers.

And the triumph that started the whole ride, her 2003 win in the Amateur Public Links at the age of 13, remains her only win outside her home state, Hawaii.

It would be easy to look to Wie’s lost 2007 season for answers. She was injured in a fall while running in January, hurting her right wrist, then she fractured her left wrist in February while breaking a fall — and protecting her sore right wrist. What ensued was a series of fits and starts that included bruised feelings between Wie and the L.P.G.A. star Annika Sorenstam, the host of the Ginn Tribute, over Wie’s abrupt withdrawal from that event in May and outrage from other players for what followed.

Wie pulled out of the event during the first round when she was 14 over par through 16 holes. The withdrawal raised red flags. She was in danger of shooting 88, a number that would have disqualified her from playing in any L.P.G.A. events for the remainder of the season. That might have been overlooked had Wie not been spotted two days later hitting balls on the range at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Md., site of the next week’s L.P.G.A. Championship. Tour members were not permitted to practice at the site during the weekend.
