Using Pandora.com I am going to conduct a musical experiment involving my Starcraft gaming. I always play music full blast whenever I play Starcraft (Probably why I am hard of hearing) and it is time to see if different genres of music affect my play in one way or another.
I will use the genre section of this website and choose between the options:
[*]Alternative [*]Blues [*]Christian [*]Classical [*]Country [*]Dance [*]Electronic [*]Folk [*]Hip Hop [*]Jazz [*]Latin [*]New Age [*]Oldies [*]Pop [*]R&B [*]Reggae [*]Rock
Every ten games I will switch to the next genre of music. There will be intervals of breaks so I don't slump or fall asleep. This will be an ongoing project until I have at the very least 50 games done in each category, which then I will analyze my win/loss ratio and how I did in all my match ups. I plan on releasing packs of my replays on fighterreplays.com so people can watch and see if there are any distinct differences.
I think the faster / more energetic the music, the more success you'll find. I tend to match the pace of faster music when I play, so the faster the music the faster I play.
It's going to be difficult but try to set up fair conditions for each trial. For example, if you tend to do your tests of Blues at 2am, you'll get raped by Koreans. Don't go to far out of your way though or you'll somehow overcompensate or create confounding variables anew.

I got C when TSL started with a rough 50-50. And yes this is going to be on iCCup. Other than TSL I never really played more than a handful of games on ICCup so this will be my first mass gaming opportunity.
Yeah you definitely need too include metal and replace it with christian...christian isn't a genre. Its the same as every other style except Jesus is thrown in a couple times.

Ya, there's so many variables for this. The random chance of playing a huge noob or huge gosu, times that you play on, how you're feeling when you do this, the factor that you'll probably get better during the season regardless of how well you do, and also maps. Even more variables than that too, but hopefully if you get a large enough sample size it should be nice Looks like it will take a lot of work, but it'll be definitely interesting to see the results.
Yeah I don't think anything is going to come out clear and cut, it will have sketchy results, but it will have a result, just nothing that you can clearly see and make a huge conclusion. So far I finished my first set (I changed the games to 5 intervals because I'm lazy and then I won't just 5 pool every game). I'm recording lots of information though from my opponent's rank to the game length just to see what I can collaborate at the end. I also included every song I've listened to during the gaming session.
I'm using Doctor-Faust on iCCup. Now I gotta mine through my autorep to get these replays. I HATE YOU AUTOREP.
Doctor-Faust, heh. Nice name I'd put very small amounts of money on any song with a fast beat. Probably rock music will win out on average there, if you don't try speed metal.
I dont think its accurate. if you go through a slump, and play really good people, chances are the music wont affect you. The same goes for if you are doing really well, and happen to get a lot of nubs.
