What does it mean "I can shampoo my hair approximately every other day."

Since this is a challenge, this means that you'll have to find an alternative to clensing your body, either with the shampoo or some crazy Chinese recipe.

Also if you want an extra challenge you can try washing your hair with baking soda instead of shampoo.

According to this
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It-Yourself/1981-03-01/Keep-Clean-Without-Running-Water.aspx
It supposedly does a decent job. You might even be able to use the resulting lather as a substitute for body soap (this part I'm not actually sure of).

A SOAPLESS SHAMPOO

Hair washing presents a special problem . . . again, because it's very difficult to rinse off the suds. Leftover soap or shampoo is bound to make your scalp itch, but you can get your "crowning glory" clean — and avoid the "itches" — by using baking soda!
You see, all soaps are made by combining a fat and an alkali (usually lye) . . . and baking soda — itself a mild alkali — seems to react with hair oils to produce its own natural, mild washing product. Under the proper conditions, soda will even create a copious lather.

Well i don't really see the problem in this.
So you still use shampoo for your hair and soap for your hands and shower every day. If you don't have a really dirty job or something i don't see why you would need soap. Shampoo and water will be enough as long as you shower every day like normal.

Alright, since I was bored I decided to try this out real quick since I was curious about it. It actually does work pretty well for your hair, however it doesn't really create enough of a lather (in fact there was hardly any at all) to use as a body wash. Although as I said, if you want an extra challenge you can try to substitute shampoo with baking soda for a year as well.

Long term baking soda will ruin your hair. But I think you should do it anyways.

I bathe once a week at most, and often don't use soap, and never use shampoo (I've actually read it is potentially bad for hair, so I'm happy to not use it - and not to mention that shampoo often contains stuff that is linked to depression and other health issues). I also never wear deodorant (mainstream deodorants are linked to breast cancer and alzheimers, and I'm happy to dodge that little bullet). I'm fine. I work in an office, and that's fine. I've dated plenty of women, and they never complain - many are surprised to find out how little I bathe. Granted, I eat a much cleaner diet than most folks, so my smell is not as "intense" as it would be for someone who eats a lot of meat or junkfood.

I have a friend who is a college math professor who showers daily, but never uses soap or shampoo, and he does just fine. This is only a big deal to people in "modern" societies who are duped into believing they have to bathe every day and must buy all sorts of products in order to be a decent human being.

In short, I support your efforts.

Here's an add on to make your challenge more interesting:

Carefully stitch the hole of your penis shut. Make sure to minimize bleeding as much as possible or you'll have to use soap to disinfect the area which is a BIG NONO according to your plan. Since your penis is shut, urine will have to find a different way out. Now there are 3 options: your mouth, your ears, or your anus. To make this experiment as efficient as possible, seal the non used soap in the anal opening and staple that shut as well, forcing the urine to gush out of your ears while being cleansed by the soap plugging your anus. To lower the pressure of the urine coming out your ears, cut your ears off and swallow them, and at the end of the experiment restitch them back to your skull. Measure how much urine comes out of your mouth and nose:

Total Flow = Flow_ears + Flow_mouth

and report it! Cmon guys, let's compare all of our Total Flow values and see whose is the largest!

LMAO. !!!
