Effectively my first photo of a genre I'm looking into
Lack of experience shows, and it's far from perfect, however the most important issue is that I'm learning

The clouds look sorta like their moving... is that the result of clouds moving during a time exposure? You might also want to consider what role you want the bottom left corner of the photograph to play. With a slight change of positioning you can give the illusion that you are on water, and with a slight change in a different way, you can probably balance the border of the picture a bit, but this is coming from someone who has some interest but little experience in photography. BTW what is the meaning/significance of the picture's title?

BTW what is the meaning/significance of the picture's title? Well actually if I would have moved the camera just a millimeter to the right a strange bridge/pipe formation would have gotten in the way, and I could not go closer either, because I would have literally fell into the water. I tried zooming in, but then a very large (almost all) portion of the water wouldn't have gotten captured. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm aware of the relatively bad angle, and I hate that my lower-left corner is not free of any objects, but given the circumstances at that moment I could not have gotten a better position. Also I had to hold the aperture open for 30 seconds manually, by pressing the 'capture' button and holding it down (I do not have a remote, need to buy one). I did not utilize a tripod either, since I don't own one yet. Thank you for the suggestions, they are really welcomed. As for the title, the more luminous part (left) of the photo is west, and the sun passes almost parallel to the direction of the river every day. The long exposure and the impression of movement from the clouds (they did actually moved during the ~30 sec shutter speed) and the river are meant to suggest the quickness and superficiality of the human individual time, as opposed, or better yet on the background of the great universal time (which seems infinite and another cycle in the Earth's rotation is really almost nothing).
