If you don't care as much about the uber-elite Universities, the PSAT matters a lot more as far as money goes. I'm going to my college for almost free and got into a fairly exclusive pre-med/medschool accelerated program thanks to being a finalist...

3 hours of basic reading comprehension and 10th grade math make applying to colleges so much easier.

1. Thank god. I need them to compensate for my GPA 2. Stress-free. Why do people spazz over standardized test so much? If you pay a modicum of attention in school, and have moderate reasoning/reading skills, you will do fine.

I think I got 165 79th percentile. I'm sure of the percentile (because 80 was the cutoff for a lot of schools) but not of the score. Then I retook it 6 months later. Studied everything in my book, did all the practise problems and got a good night sleep. I got around 155 65 percentile. It was at this point I decided law school wasn't for me :D I don't even know if I wanted to goto law school, it was more to take a shot and see what happened. Luckily the oil patch in Alberta was literally just gearing up as I graduated... Parents have good intentions but often aren't good at motivating, but the people whining in this blog are equally dumb. Giving up a few hours "of your precious summer" a day is not a big deal when you consider what is at stake. And really, what else were you going to do with that time?
