The Past 2002 - 2006

14-02-2002 - Do you remember?

A new Terran hit the scene, yet very unknown, but soon it was about to begin.
Before that special day he was only known as an amateur player who won over Choi "ChRh" In Kyu. (Terran vs Terran, Amateur vs Progamer)
14-02-2002, that was the day the 17 years old Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol hit the scene. This day was special - you could feel the excitement on your skin. On this special day Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol won his first televised game.
He still was unknown, just beating 1 opponent is not enough proof.

28-02-2002

Two weeks later Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol should get another chance to proof if he will become a champion or just an "average" progamer.
What should I say - Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol won. This time it was against Kim "TheMarine" Jeong Min who had already won vs Lim "Sinji_NT" Jung Ho in his first game.

14-03-2002

Best of 3 - his first series in progaming. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol had to face Im "IntoTheRain" Sung Choon who was known for his amazing reaver play. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol won the first game of the series, but lost the 2 other games.
Now he knew - progaming is though - he had to train even harder!

20-03-2002 - GhemTV 1st Starleague

Just 6 days after his defeat, Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol took part in the 1st GhemTV Starleague.
He had an amazing start - beating 5 well known players.

NaDa > Han "Oddysay" Woong Ryul
NaDa > Kim "Garimto" Dong Soo
NaDa > Jang "JinNam" Jin Nam
NaDa > Kang "H.O.T-Forever" Doh Gyung
NaDa > Im "IntoTheRain" Sung Choon

People started to recognize a new talent - this was just the beginning. It seems only a god could stop him now..

NaDa < Jun "ZeuS" Tae Gyu

In the end, Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol ended in the third place which is amazing.

18-04-2002 - Reebok KPGA Tour 2nd League

The second MSL Starleague - at this time KPGA Tour started. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol's first game should be against Im "IntoTheRain" Sung Choon who he already won against in the GhemTV Starleague.

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol should become very famous through this starleague - he won. Some of you may say "Its nothing special to win!"

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol was 3rd in the first one and won the second one! (MSL) And how he did win it! He lost 3 single games in the complete league - thats amazing!

Finally, or maybe "already" Korea had a new superstar besides Lim "SlayerS_`BoxeR`" Yo Hwan, Hong "YellOw" Jin-Ho and Kim "Garimto" Dong Soo. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol's time should start, now!

It has begun!

Hell - its about time! With his first Starleague win Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol's amazing series should start!

From his very beginning in 2002 until 2006 he claimed the title of the Most successful progamer of all times!. You may say Lim "SlayerS_`BoxeR`" Yo Hwan is the most successful progamer of all time but that is infact - incorrect.

The Top 5 over all time! (until end of 2006)

Number 1:
Name: Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol
Team: Pantech EX
Points: 2557.4

Number 2:
Name: Lim "SlayerS_`BoxeR`" Yo Hwan
Team: SKTelecomT1
Points: 2335.1

Number 3:
Name: Hong "YellOw" Jin-Ho
Team: KTF MagicNs
Points: 1848.7

Number 4:
Name: Choi "iloveoov" Yun Sung
Team: SKTelecomT1
Points: 1734.2

Number 5:
Name: Park "July" Sung Joon
Team: SKTelecomT1
Points: 1181.6

As you can see, there are still two very old but yet famous players in the top 3. Lim "SlayerS_`BoxeR`" Yo Hwan and Hong "YellOw" Jin-Ho which are rivals for ages.

Now I want to show you or make clear why NaDa was, is and perhaps ever will be the most successful progamer in history of progaming.

Archievements until the end of 2006 (Only 1st Places):

2002 Reebok KPGA Tour 2nd League (MSL)
2002 Pepsi Twist KPGA Tour 3rd League (MSL)
2002 Baskin Robbins KPGA Tour 4th League (MSL)
2002~2003 Panasonic OnGameNet Starleague (OSL)
2003 GhemTV StarLeague
2004 KT-KTF Premiere League Championship
2004-2005 IOPS Ongamenet Starleague (OSL)
2006 2nd ShinHan Bank OnGameNet StarLeague (OSL)

That makes a total of three - 3 - MSL and three - 3 - OSL titles. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol was the first to secure 3 MSL titles and the first to secure 3 OSL titles. With the win of the third OSL he secured the "Golden Mouse" for being the first to claim that many OSL wins.

Golden Mouse

With the picture of Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol and his at that time latest achievement I want to end the past of him.

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol - at the moment!

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol had good times and had bad or respectively sad times when he lost his father. (R.I.P) His fans always supported him - never let him down. In my whole live I've never seen a guy with such a spirit.. such a power of will.

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol wrote a letter to his father - which I don't want you to skip.

+ Show Spoiler +

Title: Letter to the Sky

hi this is nada~..
hows ur life goin'?
i am drunk today too~
i am living life with drinks nowdays
u know when u drink, u feel better?
i was walking in the rain after having drinks with friend in the cafe

like...

the rain that is...
father's tear..

my dad always wanted to do some business...
had many failures because of those tries...
but before all those failures
he wanted the happiness of our family...
but... he couldnt...
no... because of that 1 guy...

my dad was very healthy...
very healthy... my dad was very strong...
he wasnt skinny like me
he was big..
and strong..
he never lost vs people
and when we were living in the name of poor
my father fought with gansters only with his 2 hands...

oneday my mother came back home with all bruises over her face
my dad grabbed a metal pipe
and gone to the corporation ..
he leaped over the fence to revenge for my mom...
its like that...
thats how much he loved our family
and thats how strong he was...

but.....

the 1 guy .... drinking driving... and by illegial U-turn
dad is in the sky now...
this ...
this isnt a destiny.. its an error of destiny...
an error of the sky...
the error that never supposed to be happend...

ha.........i still feel empty...
but not a long ago... when i walked in the rain...
i felt it..
it was like...
my father's tear

i...nada...
think i have to get brave back...

i talked with my friends in Gumi(state of korea)... alot of talk...
everyone is living a hard life...
i felt it now...

i realized how happy life i am living while talking with my friends...
i realize it now... now... now i realize...

yes i have to wake up again...
having no practice now is killing me...

if i go back to seoul...
practice hard... so no one can beat me...

and for sure... i will dedicate all those winnings and honors to ..
my father...

i..
im going back ...

dont worry...

im going back to the real nada...

so

remember

i will take care of my family dad..

In the letter you can feel, or atleast I can, how sad he is. But there is another point you can feel.
He has it. The spirit - the magic. He will come again, he will train even harder as anyone. He will overcome them all, over and over again!

And its just like he said. He trained hard and he came back. He participated in the "2006-2007 3rd ShinHan Bank OnGameNet StarLeague" and went straight to the finals. Unfortunatly he was shaky and lost 1-3 to Ma "sAviOr" Jae Yoon whose reign had started or was about to start soon.

2007 Shinhan Bank OnGameNet Masters 2006/2007

The Shinhan Bank OnGameNet Masters was a very important tourney. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol and Ma "sAviOr" Jae Yoon were seeded and a couple of very skilled progamers were invited and had to play a group stage.

The winner of group A Byun "IriS" Hyung Tae, known to be one of the best Terran vs Terran players in Korea had to face Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol in a best of 5!

The Winner of group B Han "Casy" Dong Wook had to face Ma "sAviOr" Jae Yoon in a best of 5.

As you may have guessed it ended up like this:

IriS vs NaDa

IriS < NaDa on Neo Arkanoid
IriS < NaDa on Reverse Temple
IriS > NaDa on Sin Peaks of Baekdu
IriS < NaDa on 815 III
IriS <> NaDa on Neo Arkanoid

Casy vs sAviOr

Casy > sAviOr on 815 lll
Casy < sAviOr on Reverse Temple
Casy < sAviOr on Sin Peaks of Baekdu
Casy < sAviOr on 815 III
Casy <> sAviOr on Neo Arkanoid

In the end it should be Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol versus Ma "sAviOr" Jae Yoon, again!

I don't want to let you wait for to long -

The Result

NaDa > sAviOr on 815 III
NaDa > sAviOr on Neo Arkanoid
NaDa < sAviOr on Reverse Temple
NaDa > sAviOr on Shin Peaks of Baekdu
NaDa <> sAviOr on 815 III

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol is the winner of Shinhan Masters 2007 which means alot to him. He devoted this win to his father and even if you can't understand korean - sadness breaches language barriers..

NaDa with his Shinhan Master Trohpy

Offcourse, tourneys are not everything in the progaming scene. Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol is already qualified for 2007 MSL and OSL and is doing soso lately. Lets see what he can reach in this seasons MSL and OSL! I believe he can win, just because his mental strength and the fact that he won the qualification games nearly all 2-0.

He had a slump for quiet some time but he seems to recover. His team sponsor "Pantech EX" left the progaming scene and now his team is known as "WeMade".
Proleague is a huge deal in the scene and we have to see how "WeMade" can perform there. The last season as "Pantech EX" Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol was basically a 1-Man-Team and nearly won 70% of his games. Unfortunately it seems like the other members can't compete with high level teams such as "Samsung KHAN", "CJ Entus", "SKTelecomT1" and so on.

NaDa - the heart of the Team! (still Pantech EX)

None the less, Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol as individual is the most successful progamer the world always has seen! He has over five hundred - 500 televised games and I would bet over 15000 practice games!

The Future

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeols future is yet unknown. He mentioned that he want to be the first 30 years old progamer and I have no objections!

I really enjoy his style and the way he can make a game out of the most hopeless situations and fight until its all over!

Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol will come back - stronger as ever - like he ever did and always will do!

Lee Yun Yeol ~ fighting!

Well it's not only purely grammatical errors, your english isn't that fluid.

I mean it's a cool article and all but I don't think it should be in Final Edits. Basically you have written down alot of facts, which all are in the TLPD.

But of course it's a nice effort! Keep it up =)

Actually. His first televised win was not on KPGA Tour.

It was on Amatuer vs Pro iTV.
You shouldn't base all your stats from TLPD.

I used TLPD maybe in 5% of the whole thing. Maybe it was the first match I saw. I will correct it later! Cannot do it now!

Nice read. One thing I'd like to point out is that TLPD is wrong for the Casy vs sAviOr matches (Shinhan Masters). The first game of their series was on 815, which Casy won. He did not win on Neo Arkanoid. I remember this well because NaDa used basically the same strat against sAviOr and won. Hopefully if a mod reads this they could fix that little error.

Er, it looks like an exact copy paste of TLPD:
http://teamliquid.net/tlpd/players/147_NaDa

Anyways. Pro vs Amateur (ChRh vs NaDa)
http://enjoyjapan.naver.com/tbbs/read.php?board_id=tgame&page=6&nid=99809

NaDa started in 2000, at the age of 16 as an amatuer, beating ChRh.
http://www.gzplayer.com/Aphrodite/view.php?bid=gamenews&idx=264&page=1&search=&cateidx=

Yeah, I agree that the Lee "NaDa" Yun Yeol is overboard.

Call him NaDa, or Lee Yun Yeol. Not both at the same time.

I wouldn't have put so much emphasis about Shinhan masters, it wasn't his biggest achievement by far. But still nice to remember how he started out, biased article of course but nice.

Yeah you're right
He lost on neo arkanoid to savior's 1 base muta.
And the 1st match was on 815 where casy proxy 8 rax bunker rushed savior.
I think the order was 815 rlt neo arkanoid peaks

This is such a great and heartfelt thread about NaDa and with the coming MSL match I think more people need to see this.

Great job Naruto!!
