I'm doing a 12 hour art marathon
And I decided what I'm going to do.
I'm going to make a rainbow Out of starburst wrappers.

So I have 17 by 14 inches canvas
How many starbursts do you think I'll need?

Since you have 12 hours, I'm assuming a wrapper will take up something like 1/4 x 1/4 inch of space on the canvas because you'll be wadding it up slightly I guess, so it's going to take no more than 3808 wrappers. Assuming you actually leave white space, cut that down to at least 3600, which is 5 wrappers a minute--not bad.

edit: actually, that'd suck to do T_T. Of course, you can easily scale down a lot from my estimate.

hmm, arent starburst wrappers actually kinda large? if you unfold them and lay it out, I think they are well over an inch on each side.

Your canvas is a*b units squared. A starburst rapper is c*d units squared. Get ab and cd into the same units (of area). The number of starbursts you need will be (ab)/(cd). If I knew the dimensions of a starburst rapper I'd help you lol.
