EPTWith the upcoming release of SC:R, I logged into 1.18 and Fish about 20 times to play games and see what has all happened with the general attitude and skill of the community. What I really saw was more of the same from 5-6 years ago, with a slightly lower median skill range and a lot of returning vets (friends or foes) that I played with back then. It was really nice to see them, as we've all become adults and had to position our lives so that we could inevitably be as happy as 50% of what we thought we'd be. Moreover, a few of them have approached me about large and small initiatives regarding SC:R, and I'm pretty excited about the idea of being a part of the help a new generation of struggling SC players will need.
Speaking of which, I'd like to offer a quick update on my life since the streams I semi-stalked for the past few years always garnered interest. Moreover, I'd like to address a not-so-adult-like situation that occurred during the last couple of years that I was playing SC:BW.
First, I'll say this: mission accomplished. I went to war with an entity that was run by a couple of players who operated as dictators, of which they were sly and cunning. I did this because primarily for 2 reasons: 1) there was a lot of unrest among the top 2 tiers of non-Korean players about the lack of new talent, and the boredom that came with it 2) I didn't particularly agree with an already washed out resource being operated by people who had no interest for growth in the community. Regarding point 1, the transition to the Fish server seemed to have gone flawlessly and I regularly enjoy watching some top foreigners beat down Koreans that hadn't been seen since 2008 on US West, and there are no Korean scholarships this time around for foreigners to embarrass themselves. Regarding point 2, there was a lot of childish behavior there. For that I apologize, and for any sour taste it left in anyone's mouth (no, this is not a pun). So, all BS aside I'm really happy about the use of Fish server as a primary means for gaining skill in a game that has never been, and never will be perfected.
Since then however, I graduated from school one of the cum laude's. I don't remember. But, I spent the next 9 months couching it until I became a drug addiction treatment counselor at a pretty well run private facility. Being from the "other" part of Miami, it really helped me learn about myself. From there, and no not inclusive with the drug treatment I started dating a really nice girl who's loyal, beautiful, and secretly a sick fuck like me. I can dig that. We're still going and well, I hope the best for the future. Call it a strike of luck but I was given the opportunity to become a partner in a business that was struggling, but had some great potential. The humble thing to say would be that we've turned it around. So, we've turned it around. Now I kind of just work a little bit when I need to, and spend a lot of time playing a game called Ultima Online that I blogged about prior. I have a nice place in downtown, a nice car, an awesome girlfriend, and the cutest of all cute pitbulls in the cute pitbull world. So, it makes me contemplate how much time I want to invest into SC:R as well.
Lastly, if anyone wants to play some games on SC:BW or 1.18, or SC:R when it comes out just give me a shout and we'll get'r'done.
