I've never looked upon myself as a talented gamer or even a skillfull player. I've always felt that I was a slow learner. Even after I hit top 100 world on teamgames (MMR wise) I still felt that this is the case.
For the longest of time. I was a shitty player. I was the worst SC2 gamer ever when I started playing in 2011. I remember people used to make fun of me on the SC2 forums because I had been playing for so long and was still bronze. I hated those days. Even though I am a casual player I've always had a very competitive spirit. I wanted to improve no matter what. I wanted to get masters and get that star icon. Not to showoff, but to prove to myself that I could get good at Starcraft.
2016 was a special year for me in Starcraft. It was the year that I taught myself that no matter how bad you may have been you can always get better regardlesss of where you started. I started in bronze in 4v4 and now 5 years later i've been Master 1 in 3v3 and 4v4.
It all started in May 2016 when I got back into the game after a really long hiatus. At that point, I had given up my dream of getting to Diamond because I felt it was just too hard. It seemed absurd to me. I played and practiced so much and was still stuck in platinum league. Even after 4 years I still felt I was so bad at 4v4 I was sick of it.
Then I stopped caring.
I literally stopped caring. I told myself that if I can't get to Diamond I might as well play the game and just enjoy myself even though I knew wasn't going to improve.
But then, I started noticing I was getting better and better. I played so much 4v4 it was crazy. I was probably averaging 15-20 matches a day. Suddnely I was beating Diamonds.
Rougly after about a month of playing after returning to the game I got diamond. That was probably the happiest starcraft moment of my life. FINALLY after 3 years of being stuck in platinum league I did it.
And that's when magic happened...
I still don't know how to explain this or how I even did it but I went from Diamond 3 to Master's 1 roughly 3 months after the Diamond promotion. I just loved playing it so much and figuring out how to beat my opponents and how to make sure I was supporting my teammates as much as possible. And it all went uphill from there.
Even today I'm still pushing to get even better. I want to be the worlds best 3v3 & 4v4 player!
The reason for me making this blog update today is because I wanted to lay out my entire story in the hope of motivating others to keep pushing their dreams of getting better at Starcraft or whatever game you want to be good at.
I'm a living example of a gamer who started at the very bottom of ladder and got to the very top while just being a casual gamer who plays for fun.
Also thanks for reading!
