I've been a part of these squads many times before and am amazed at just how organized some of the plans are. I also got to experience being squad leader myself on some occasions.
The first time I got squad leader was when I started doing some military roleplay. I started doing it out of nowhere while I was in a squad. The squad leader said he was cracking up listening to me and that's when he gave me the huge responsibility of being a squad leader. Then he was so impressed by my vocal ability that he offered me a position to leave my current outfit, which is like a larger club within planetside 2, to be a part of his newer outfit. I decide, okay.
After accepting the new home, times were slow. The outfit I was in had a lot of slow activity so I decided to leave it for a more competitive outfit. Some are casual, some are more specialized, there's a mix of them all. I submitted my application, but I'm just a little nervous if they're gonna accept me.
On that same day I decided to play a medic that heals people's boo-boo's. I joined a squad and just healed people's injuries and feelings. I got promoted to squad leader at some point just because I was talking a lot, being pro-active telling people I was gonna heal them AS I was healing them. That's how life is sometimes I guess, just gotta grab those opportunities and take risks.
At the moment we were in a stalemate position with neither side making any progress and as a squad leader I had to try something new, something innovative. Some failed tactics later and I got the genius idea to use gorilla warfare. We'd go around in enemy territory far behind the battle frontier and disrupt supply convoys and destroy terminals where people can purchase vehicles like tanks and what not. It was a genius idea. I was amazing.
However, sometimes as a squad leader you don't always have those experiences of organized warfare. Sometimes you get a squad that doesn't listen to you and more prefers to do their own thing.
That sums up my experience as squad leader. May more amazing things come!
