Why do you need people on a forum to validate the way you approach the game? It's your mindset, so it's in your mind.

When you say you're having a hard time being motivated to play, I really don't see a winner's mindset there, though. You won't go pro in SC2. I think you should focusing on building good relationships with family and friends, and getting a college degree instead.

That's not important OP, what's important is are you analyzing your losses? But to answer your question, I don't think it's bad, in fact, since we can make mistakes in won games, you can analyze that too. I do have to say though, you'll learn a great deal more from watching your major, preventable screw ups/how enemies smashed you than the mistakes you make in won games.

The bad mindset starts with "I want to go pro". Realistically, this is a stony and long road, with little to no chances to suceed - not saying it's impossible, or it's impossible for you. Try to have fun while doing it. If you really can't get any good experience from it, try to pause and take a break from the game, even if it's only for a few days. Strifing for perfection is a good thing, but only if it is healthy and not an obsession. The second it only delivers frustration, you should turn to something else.

This being said, for training purposes it's more important to analyze losses, while ignoring wins. However, that contradicts what I told you just now ;/

I wasn't discouraged, not by a long shot. I just decided to get rid of the post because A. I need to stop writing posts at 2am, and B. I need to stop talking about that. I know I am going to get discouraged when I talk about this. Next to no one can pull it off but that wasn't suppose to be the point. Now I don't know what I originally was trying to get out of the post so I just decided to take it down, in a manner of speaking. And Gecko yeah this is going to be tough, but I love starcraft, even when I feel down I take a day or two and I come back swinging like a mofo XD. Frankly I am gonna give it the best shot I can.

From an educational point of view, it makes just as much sense to analyse your victories as well as your defeats.

Well, it wasn't meant to critize your ideal outcome of your training, I guess you know that. You could probably try to look at post game analysis from a slightly different angle. Instead of focussing on the mistakes, try to figure out what you did right until it got wrong. Focus on what was "good" and view training as improvement of your better aspects. In the end, the result will be the same, but the idea is to stay positive. Instead of outlining your flaws, you outline your strengths. It's difficult to not overdo it, but it just might do the trick if you feel really down.

yeah I've never understood why tons of people here advocate only focusing on losses. Going over wins is just as important. It lets you understand things you did well, how to apply that to other areas... sometimes it also helps you realize that your W is hollow because you just crushed an inferior opponent while playing like ass yourself.

When I said I knew I was going to get discouraged, I wasn't talking about you, I was responding to Nina, I made a post at, again, 2am a few months back in a delirious haze about I want to play in the Sc2 big leagues. I got hit pretty hard there as well. I know you weren't you were just posting a good constructive reply :D
